LG 32LD460 FullHD 2010 model
« on: Jul 01, 2010 at 09:50 PM »
Just saw this one at SM Appliance Center Megamall. It is priced at 32999 (cash -3300). Seeing that the LD310 has many good feedbacks I thought that this FullHD model would be as good also. However, the demo video used was awful (or might be the video settings). The unit was placed in front of the LG section and was beside their CRTs. The video shown was the same to all units and it looks like the CRTs has a better output. Mapapabili na sana ako kanina pero na-turn off ako sa demo. Katabi nya is the Sony section where even the lowest end model (bx300/ex300) was better (because it's sony?)

Anyone has this unit already? Ok ba sa inyo?

nakita ko rin ito sa SM appliance. Turn off ako sa PQ, ang layo-layo sa LH70.

Don't know if there's stocks but for 5k more you'll get a 37inch version, so better get a 37LD460.

up? nakikita ko lang kasi yun units nito sa mall.

parang mas dull ang pic ng LD460 o baka sa settings lang.
spec wise 4ms siya as compared to 2ms for lh70.

I'm not sure if you also noticed.. LG Region Websites have different specs.
i.e. DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) of LG SG is different from LG AU which is also different from ours.  This is a bit confusing unless if it's a type on LG's part

IMHO, it's better to get a separate HD Media Player like XTreamer for your regular film marathon and only use the USB Player on occasion, when you need to quickly watch a short clip.

Sayang yung experience and PQ ng TV nyo if you don't watch your content using an external HD Media Player via HDMI kse mas maganda yung decoding nun vs built-in player ng HDTV nyo.

Anyway, may typo ba ang LG website?
Is it true that the resolution of
32LD460 is higher at 1920x1080p
while
37LD460 is lower at 1360x768 ?

I paid SnS a visit last night and had the chance to see Vic.  However, after withdrawing cash to buy a 37LD460, he left na (that was late already and store was about to close).

Anyway, one of his helpful staff accommodated my request to compare side by side.  He, along w/ another staff went out for a few minutes to bring up a new unit.

Movie played was a 720p Dark Knight ata.  Horizontal black bars from the other brands (even china brands) were much darker.

For those who have compared it, is the backlight bleed/clouding really that worse in LD460 vs other brands?

The screen of the LG (at any pre-set) was noticeably more lighter/grayish when there was no input/source connected and the horizontal black bars from the movie being played was brighter/lighter/grayer than China brands like Vista or AVision!

I couldn't believe that the backlight bleed/clouding was much brighter than most of the LCDs there.  So I told the staff that I would come back and seek help from Vic nalang.  It might be just because of the setting or something..

Guys, totoo nga na hindi sila atat makabenta dito.. The staff was still in a good mood kahit na I declined.. (he brought the new unit up pa that time).  I will definitely return to them for my AV needs.

Anyway, does anyone here know the difference between 32LD460 vs 37LD460 in terms of
1) Power Consumption (min/ave/max)
and
2) Heat Emission (min/ave/max)?

TIA! :)

LG 32LD460

I bought this unit on September 5, 2010 from SnS at 25K cash. It came with a free HDMI cable (thanks, sir Vic & SnS staff!). The plan was to use it for Playstation 3 gaming. It's mostly used for cable TV viewing that averages around 8 hours a day and watching movies thru USB (because I don't have a home theater system and my dvd player is broken). I'm not an expert but here's my review anyway. I'm sorry if I go OT from time to time.

Cable TV (Skycable) w/o digibox

Not recommended unless you enjoy watching programs with noise effect. It gets worse if your cable connection isn't perfect (mine isn't). Low-quality coaxial cables and electromagnetic interference give you a static-filled picture for your viewing pleasure.

Cable TV (Skycable) w/ digibox (but no HD subscription. I have none.)

Thanks to the digibox, picture quality is now so-so as opposed to the above, but for hardcore A/V people it might not be enough to get a thumbs-up. No more static and noise effect is gone or hardly noticeable. Without HD subscription you will either have to watch programs that are stretched to 16:9 aspect ratios or be content with a 4:3 version with black bars on the left and right side. With HD subscription, you get to watch around 6 additional channels (I guess) that are in high definition but will add another Php 799.00 (I guess) on top of your monthly fee. Also, there is a one-time connection fee around Php 5,000.00+ and they give you an HD box (I think) that will replace your digibox.

Movies thru USB/External HDD

This depends on the quality of the audio/video tracks, no matter what a/v file format. But I noticed that the best pq comes from MKV file formats that has a video stream of 1920x1080 with a frame rate of 23.976. If that's the kind of file you'll play then the 32LD460 won't dissapoint you. But (yes, there's a but) the video stream sometimes loses sync with the audio (happens to me). Maybe the USB/External HDD connection to the TV is shaky or not secure, or it could just be some dust around the port. Solution to this would be to exit the movie (Gasp!) and re-enter. You will be asked if you want to continue from the point where you left so just say yes and presto, video and audio are back in sync. Also, I've noticed that some movies that are over 2 hours or over 4GB auto-exit at some point and you can't get past that point ever. A solution was to use a software program that cuts the movie into two (or three) parts. Now you just play the movie in sequence and you get to watch the whole movie and just have to experience a short loading where the first part ends and the second part begins. Regarding the audio, some movies have DTS tracks and the LD460 can’t decode DTS tracks by itself so you’ll hear nothing, no audio. If you insist on playing the movie from USB/External HDD, you must convert the DTS track. All in all, the LD460 does an ok job.

Movies thru a Home Theater system/DVD-player

I don’t have one. Next.

Listening to Music thru USB

I haven’t tried anything other than mp3 files. You can listen to music while the screen is off. TV has 2 speakers, 15 Watts each. It’s ok.

Playstation 3 Gaming thru HDMI

Picture quality is very good and you can adjust backlight, contrast, brightness, sharpness and whatever else in the LD460 that can be adjusted in order to suit your needs/wants. Audio isn’t lacking too much either. Makes you want to play until your playstation overheats.

Anyway, that’s how I’ve used the unit for more than a month. There’s a minor backlight bleed at the middle on the lowest part of the screen but it’s not an issue. Electricity bill stayed the same as when I was using a 21” CRT (also by LG). Manufacture date of my unit is June 2010.

was at G4 last saturday, sinamahan si ermats bumili ng automatic washing machine. saw this unit and i decided then and there to just purchase it. spontaneous decision lang. saw it side by side the le5500, wala naman ako mapansin na glaring advantage ng le5500 so ito na kinuha ko and save myself a lot of dough. 27k binigay sakin ng automatic center 12mos 0% interest. anlaki pala ng 32 inches para sa kuwarto ko, medyo nalulula ako. ok naman cable reception niya, i was prepared to get a lot of noise pero parang mas malinaw pa kesa sa old toshiba crt ko. i was supposed to get the cv700 mas mura at may signal booster pero HD ready lang. sarap gamitin sa xbox360, ganda ng detalye. auto av settings pa lang ginagamit ko. hopefully may magshare ng settings nila. july 2010 ang manufacture date. wala naman ako napapansin na bleeding. currently watching watchmen using the usb slot. over 2 hours yung video, test ko lang kung lalampas siya ng two hours. next week dvd player naman bibilhin ko. any recommendations on a cheap dvd player that has hdmi, can output 1080p and has a usb slot for movies

dude, we have the exact same observation comparing it side by side w/ LG LE5500 (LED-Lit LCD).
That saved me from buying a LED Lit LCD which has absolutely no difference in PQ/VQ compared to the LD460.

Anyway, I suggest to skip the DVD player and immediately get an HD Media Player.  Recommendation is XTreamer.  hanap ka nalang sa buy & sell. dami nyan kahit sa TPC. :)

Sky Cable (without Digibox, just plain cable) TV reception is good in my 37LD460.

In fact, it's way better than my Samsung 32" LA32R81B Cable TV reception considering that my LG is 5" larger!! :)
