Sir Vic,

Do you have this TV displayed in your showroom?

Am really very much interested to see this LCD TV.

Yes, this TV is on display side-by-side with LCD TV for comparison.  :D

Saw this unit while we were buying the X20 and doing a quick observation, we gathered:

The good:
-Very good colors, better than most LED models I've tested. Most LED models have overly bright pictures, this is almost like plasma without the plasma "troubles".
-So far, I did not notice any "throbbing" blacks, I've seen on Samsung LED models.

The bad:
-Part of the reason why we go LED is for it's aesthetic looks! This Toshiba seems quite thick for a LED T.V, robing it of the sleek design that attracts you to the technology.

According to Toshiba, the thickness of this TV is due to the audyssey speaker system. To enable the TV to have powerful but clear imaging sounds, Toshiba integrates a set of bigger speaker that conform to the audyssey standard. This integration resulted to the thickness of the cabinet.  :D

Because of the cabinet structure, the LED back light was placed a little further away from the LCD screen. This becomes a good factor that reduces the much intensity of the back light. With less overly bright light, the picture becomes less light-glaring as other LED TVs.  :D

Please take note also that this TV is made of 14 bits per screen pixel. The number of bits per screen pixel determines the display's screen bit depth. Since Toshiba has higher bits screen, it can display a larger color gradiation. Hence, this TV is more colorful than other TVs in the market. By the way, the current TVs in the market have only 10 bits screen.  :D

Will I need a digibox to plug in to this unit or will the analog cable from my cable company do? My problem is our condo only allows Global Destiny. there is no provision for Sky Cable. If it needs a digibox, do you sell digibox also or know where it can be procured?

Does that Clearscan 100 Pro mean the 100Hz motion compensation thing? Yung parang nadadagdagan ng frames?

Parang gusto ko to, but it would take a lot of convincing when the LG 42" is way cheaper.

The XL700 has auto signal booster that can enhance the TV reception delivered by Global Destiny. You don't need the digital box to do the work.  :D

The ClearScan 100 Pro technology adds new frames in between the original transmitted frames to create seamless motion images.

Sir Vic,

Has the price changed from 65T? If you are to choose between the LG 42LE7500, 42XL700 & samsung 40C6900, which one would you recommend?
thanks.

Toshiba still presents the best quality picture. If budget is not a constraint, I will choose Toshiba over the other brand.

Toshiba 42XL700 is still P65K.

I have to agree with this. If budget is not a factor I would have bought this instead of my Panny plasma.  ;)

Thanks Sir Vic for the advise.  Does the TOS support playing of MKV files?  What HT would you recommend that matches the 42XL700 & price pls.

The Toshiba 42XL700 has USB port for jpeg viewing but not for movie watching. You need a separate media player to play the mkv files.

We recommend the following:
Media Player:
budget
Xtreamer SideWinder P5500.
high-end
Popcorn Hour A210 P11K

Home-theater System:
budget
LG HT805PM P12K
Mid-end
Onkyo HTS3300 P24K  :D :D

Got this 42XL700 (w/HT Sony DAVDZ610 & AV Link 1080p media player) @ S&S, sir Vic reccomend this t.v. versus Samsung UA40D5000  :o & im glad that i chossed this t.v.  Im satisfied w/the PQ & AQ. It has 14-bit screen-the only such kind of panel in the market that delivers the best color, clarity, and smooth free of blur image. Its audyssey speaker also present the best sound quality. No wonder, Toshiba XL700 is more expensive than other TVs despite short of many features.  tnx sir Vic  :)

I just got my Toshiba 42XL700E! :) I subscribe to Sky Cable and the auto-scan feature missed out on a few channels.. most of them local channels. Anyone familiar how to enter missing channels manually? If anyone also did any color calibration can anyone share their settings?

For those curious as to its power consumption, it registers 80 Watts approximate average (on a backlight level of 7/10) plugged into my Omni digital power reader watching normal TV. Given a Meralco generation charge of P4.83/kWh last month and an approximate usage of 16 hours a day 30 days a month it would probably cost me around P185.47 a month to watch on this baby :)

What's the difference between Toshba 42XL700 and Toshiba 40UX600U?

Also, does Toshiba have a newer model for 2011 to replace the XL700?

I am asking because LG is said to have the 42LV5500 which replaces the LE5500, while Samsung has D series like the UA40D5000.

I am strongly considering between these models and would very much appreciate your input--opinions, experience, and word of advise.

thank you very much to the PinoyDvD community.
