Do Blue Ray Players have 7.1 pre-outs
« on: Sep 25, 2010 at 12:08 AM »
Hi,

Mods please move or delete if in the wrong section.I can`t find related one.

I have this question until now, because DVD players already have 5.1 pre-outs we can directly connect to AVRs or Amps. How about stand alone Blu ray players do they have 7.1 pre-outs that we can use our old 7.1 AVRs or amps?

I still have 5.1 set-up but have a spare speakers for 7.1 but don't want to go AVR route with DTS-HD and Dolby-HD, instead go separate 2ch amp I can use both audio and extend my current set-up to 7.1, our AVRs only lives in a few months then comes out new models does I am going for a 2ch amp instead.

Thanks.

If you mean 7.1 analog output, most low end Bluray player don't have them.  Even the PS3 does not have multichannel Analog output, they output them via HDMI, so your amp should be HDMI analog ready...  Check the Bluray player specs...

Some BD players do have 5.1 or 6.1 analog out, usually a bit more expensive )of course) than those who doesnt have built-in decoders (just like DVD Players)

yes! there are bluray players with 7.1 outputs and built-in decoders for lossless audio. this feature only available in mid to hi-end models and ofcourse more expensive than the standard models.

your plan to by-pass the extra channel directly to power amp might not give balance output. still you need connect the 2-channels to your AVR for volume control. by the way, your AVR should have 5.1 or 7.1 ext. inputs and 7.1 capable . if your AVR is only 5.1 capable it must have 7.1 pre-outs to connect the ext. amp.

I'm looking for this specific feature too for my old 5.1 audio system. Unfortunately, most bluray players with 7.1 audio out also has other useless features integrated into them which make the price steeper. Here's a few examples:
Sharp BD-HP20A (5.1 analog audio output)
Sony BDPS550
Does anyone have a list of other players with 7.1 or 5.1 analog audio outputs, specifically those that are available in the Phil? Looking for cheaper ones, as those 2 above are very expensive.
Thanks,
JOHN

Samsung BD-C6900 is one of the first few units I've looked at and it does have 7.1 analog outs. But Samsung Phil doesn't sell this as a stand alone unit. This is a freebie for their large LED TV.
Are there other sub-25,000 peso unit out there? Thanks!

http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,124252.0.html

Thanks. I was reviewing the specs and this was what I got on the I/O connectors for BD570:
1 x SPDIF output ( TOSLINK ) - Rear,
1 x SPDIF output ( RCA phono ) - Rear,
1 x Component video output ( RCA phono x 3 ) - Rear,
1 x Composite video output ( RCA phono ) - Rear,
1 x Audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 ) - Rear,
1 x HDMI output ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) - Rear,
1 x Ethernet ( RJ-45 ) - Rear,
1 x USB ( 4 pin USB Type A ) - Front
2-channel analog out?
Do you have the Panasonic DMP-BD85k instead that Mr Ricky has recommended? Thanks!

BTW, I have a 5.1 audio system and I want to keep it, so I'm just wondering if you could merge the side and rear channel signals (SL+SBL in one rear speaker, then  SR+SBR in the other rear speaker), sort of a matrixed configuration. If so, what's the procedure and where can I buy the connectors needed? Thanks!
