Why? Because I dont like the combination  :D

The price difference between PBPlus and Ultra is negligible that its best to get the Ultra. Knowing the size of your HT room pa, the Ultra will serve you best.
You may easily get the PBPlus now, but you'll always wonder what the Ultra sounds like - that thought alone is not worth the price difference, IMHO.

Besides - this is actually the best time to get an Ultra since Mike is selling his personal Ultras ;)

Ooopss - sorry for the OT  ;D

we share the same thoughts on the ultra-full stop, no more what ifs and next model to upgrade to ;D

but how about the STS vs the SCS? anyway, i can answer myself, i'm not into critical audio listening and i only go to my TV room to watch movies and most of the time alone :D

The STS is obviously better ;)

Not only for music but will give you more oomph, depth and bigger/wider soundstage in your movies as well.
With the size of your HT room - Im sure you can do other things besides just watching tv/movies. Maybe a family activity or entertaining friends with 2.1 music - so dont limit yourself. Maximize your investment  ;)

care to share why, sir ;)

oo nga sir, i meant to kaya lang i had to leave kanina.

two ways to look at this:

this is the reasoning i used
SCS-02 + Ultra = same + upgrade
STS-02 + Plus = upgrade + upgrade

but...
SCS-02 + Ultra = 80% + 100% = 90% average
STS-02 + Plus = 90% + 80% = 85% average

:) will expound more again in an hour as i need to split again.

guess it boils down to how far you want to go brader weng.

when we talk about the subs, going the Ultra route seems to have ended any craving for the best subwoofer experience we can have with SVS unless you are willing to get the SB16PLus. The PB12 plus seems like a jr Ultra so I guess you may just need to take away a little in the over all aspect of excellence compared to Ultra.

the STS compared to SCS from how I heard it, bottom end edge for STS obviously because of the addtional drivers, you can lay it out very near the wall because of its sealed design.

if its me, id go with the lesser headache for me as I believe both combinations you have cited would really sound excellent, its SVS afterall. If you have worries and qualms about the kids playing around and would give you head ached and stress on possible damage, it eliminates the whole enjoyment of the acquisition so its SCS ULtra for me, I enjoy the SQ, the looks and the kids can play around and enjoy too without me getting worried of damage and cordoning off the area in cases of parties.

ITS SVS AND PARTYING this time

based on the options, yun yung choice ko.  but if i were to fill in C. it would be:

SCS + SB12NSD (preferably pair, but one will do) + Ultra

because SCS + SB12NSD > STS :) in terms of midbass punch

Kapitana - in such a situation where there is SCS + SB12(single) + Ultra ............. how are they connected in the chain and how is the positioning/layout?

Kapitana - in such a situation where there is SCS + SB12(single) + Ultra ............. how are they connected in the chain and how is the positioning/layout?

the SB12NSD(s) would take their signals from the left and right preouts of the receiver (one each if dual)
-so the SB12NSD(s)' lowpass crossovers will be utilized
-receiver crossover would be lowered from 80-110hz to 40-80hz depending on user's taste

this would send all redirected bass above the receiver crossover to the SCS and SB12NSD (unless you have an external amp or pre-out:main-ins, where the SB12NSD can send a highpassed signal to the mains)

while LFE will still go to the Ultra (the lfe subwoofer)

selling custom made speaker stands made by the one and only turbokiller (at cost: 4k, no reservations, price to be confirmed by sir macdon, and to be sold only to S series user, speaker not included)
sir macdon had these made when he thought he was gonna use the SCS speakers for his HT, he kulam'ed himself, but that is another story ...

32" tall, SCS-02/01M when placed on this stand would position the tweeter at exactly 42" high (normal chair + normal height = ear level)

due to the height, the stand itself was made super solid (with a larger diameter post)
the base was also made extra large to make it very stable and bottom heavy
(removable spikes included)

backplate added so the speaker can be screwed onto the stand.  speaker already has female threaded holes at the bottom same as the ones on top of the speaker like in the pic.  screws given free by sir macdon (he will screw anybody  :-*)

kulang na lang butas sa plates (which i will do) and some washers.

nirvana.

very seldom do i see or here in fact havent yet that the speakers would blend very well with the sub.

There are too many beautiful speakers but the accompanying subwoofer of the same series is much to be desired. From my own listening impression, only SVS owns this distinction.
