Guys - I posted my informal and basic impressions of the SVS S-series speakers + SVS SB12nsd combo in my gallery thread:

http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,76181.2940.html

Just to add info:

For the first time in my hobby life - I tried the electrical wire as speaker wire route and I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Maybe the Denon avr is good and I'm sure the SVS speakers were great to begin with - but I felt that the electrical wire made them sound more dynamic, open and with fuller weight on the transients.
Of course, my hat is off to brader Cal for suggesting the idea  ;)

To those who want to try the el cheapo experiment - I went with Phelps Dodge 14ga stranded single run wire which costs 30 pesos per meter. Since its a single run, you need to buy 2 (positive & negative) so that makes 60 pesos per meter. It comes in many colors and you can find them easily in any neighborhood hardware store.
According to both Cal & Jojod - you can also elect 16ga or 18ga as they present almost no loss even at long runs.  Unless uber long run cguro like 30 or more meters  :P

As oppose to buying 2 separate colors (1 color for left & 1 color for right), I went with all the same color but marked the other wire with a red electrical tape only at both ends to signify 'positive'.

Tie off both ends to anything solid and place the other ends in a drill - press to twist. Try to achieve 2-3 twists per inch if possible. Twisting the wires will make them less susceptible to noise, etc.
Twisting the wires will make them a tad shorter - maybe 10-15% shorter, so pls dont forget to add a bit of margin to your lengths when buying.
If you plan to terminate them with a banana plug - get those that you need to tighten via a grub screw as the ends of the electrical wire are hard. either that or go bare wire instead.
Sabi nga nila - the best termination is no termination.  ;D

the size of wire you need can be checked here:
http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm#wiretable

you check the ohms of the speaker and the length of the wire run ...

if i have 8ohm speakers, i use the 4ohm load just to be a million percent sure.
in normal rooms, gauge 14 would probably cover 99% of our use.  i use gauge 12 so i have the option to change speakers.  when wiring fixed runs (through conduit) i even ran dual gauge 12 per speaker.

para puwede bi-amping or bigger gauge when used together.  sabi nila [estimated] dual gauge 14 used together is equivalent to gauge 13, dual gauge 12 is gauge 11, etc. [somebody correct me if i'm wrong]

I've also been using gauge 14 electrical wire as speaker wires since I started in this hobby some 14 years ago!  ;D

Interesting Kagawad Mac, try ko nga yang THHN wire.

is it made of copper or aluminum?

And I think THHN wire uses nylon coating that's why it's hard to twist.

Nearby hardware stores lang brader. I dunno lang kung meron sa Ace, Home Depot or Tru Value - baka mas mahal pa sa mga mall hardwares.

Speaker Mounts

SVS recommends using Omnimounts - which I believe MikeC would be bringing in as well.

For those who would like to view their options, Omnimounts is also distributed locally by Eleksis Marketing - distributor of Bose and Bello' racks.

Naku, may fake din pala ::)

Yes, brader - as I've mentioned in my informal impressions above, I could've gone with 2 separate color wires to signify right & left. I guess under normal circumstances - I would do just that.
The only reason I went with 2 same color wires is because I dont want them to attract attention since exposed sila due to wall hanged speakers. I was just going for the same color as the attic walls ;)

Yes napakadaming fakes bro, whether stranded or solid you will be surprised ;D kaya madaming nasusunog na bahay lately.

I mean aside from the left and right, pwede yung positive -negative na lang para minimized risk ng magkabaliktad later on :D Anyways congrats again bro.

SCS + SB12NSD (preferably pair, but one will do) + Ultra

How can 3 subs be incorporated here saer? If lets say its connected to a typical 7.2 AVR?

Either through the RCA pre-outs on the subwoofer amplifier or through the use of RCA splitter.

simplest way would be:

from receiver preouts ...

left preout to left SB12NSD
right preout to right SB12NSD
LFE preout to dedicated LFE sub

crossover on receiver would be between 60-80hz.  this would mean the left and right (stereo) subs would get the signals from crossover point and up to the lowpass crossover setting we use on each of the stereo subs (which i would recommend to be around 105hz) e.g. 60-105hz

LFE sub still gets the full LFE channel and redirected bass from below crossover.  and the stereo subs will get front left and right 60-105hz.  added advantage of this setup, even if you press PURE DIRECT, you still get the benefit of the stereo subs except this time each are playing the full bass range below 105hz

Base on my experience, ganyan ginawa ko
left preout to left SB12NSD
right preout to right SB12NSD
LFE preout to dedicated LFE sub
+
**center preout to center sub, if not paran there's a gapping whole sa center since almost 80% of info during movies are produced through this channel.
And the LFE preout to dedicated LFE sub(x2)

bili ka isa pang SB12NSD?  :D

when you realized the gaping whole sa center, what crossover did we use?  baka kasi since universal crossover setting, di kaya ng center channel yung low crossover setting?

salamat mga braders sa reply! kasi will be using the SVS set sa customer's lounge namin sa Isuzu and I am not sure saan ko puwede position yung rear speakers. i am contemplating on using the speaker stand for the rear and have the front speakers wall mounted. medyo in a couple of weeks ko pa naman yan maging problem cause i am still having the lounge renovated  :) thanks ulit!!!

Congrats to sir Von and Isuzu Manila for choosing SVS speakers and sub!  ;) Sir Von - kindly update us nalang with pics pag matapos na yung renovation! Mukang mas lalong mag e-enjoy ang mga customers nyo nyan! ;D

iniisip ko na ceiling mount yung surrounds, the same as yung PJ in the future. Masyado malayo na kasi if sa backwall ko kabit. this room used to be our training room kaya medyo malaki. still talking to the supplier kasi dipa din niya bigay yung final costing

wala pa sir, since the price of the MCS-02 x2 is too close to the price of the MTS-02.

i do have some customers sharing a 3rd pair of towers to use as their center speaker ... e.g. MTS/STS x 3 pairs = two sets of LCR
