HELP! house ground...
« on: Dec 14, 2010 at 04:00 AM »
greeting sir,

salamat!

If you can put in new earthing spikes, that would often be the best option.

Alternative options are:
1. Confirm if the neutral path from the Meralco split-phase supply is sufficiently grounded (and if there is not much potential between grounding locations). If so, this might be an option.
2. If your water lines are still made up of metal pipes that go under your house, you can check if this can be used as an adequate ground.
3. Tap on the nearest electrical post's earthing line (the thick cable that goes to the ground).

Do not use PLDT's neutral line. That conductor is too thin, and will present too much resistance in case of a fault.

Sir kung meron kang VOM (Volt-Ohm-Meter) sa bahay e you can check how much resistance yung reference ground mu.  An ideal reading is 2ohms and lower, masmaganda kasi na mababa yung resistance ng grounding mu para if in case may lightning na tumama sa house mu e dun pupunta yung current and not into your appliances.  Hope this would help.  :)
