using component cables on avrs

quick question: does it really matter if i run component cables through the avr or should i just plug it directly to my lcd? tia

ideally the shortest path would provide the best quality.

thanks again good sir. it's perfect logic, just got worried about syncing issues. super noob pa talaga. but thanks to pdvd i'm learning
