newbie question.

may Video card ba na pang WideScreen? yung support resolution nya is Widescreen?
or lahat ng video card pwede Full Screen and Wide Screen? gagamit na lang ng powerstrip for the correct resolution?

Thanks

Most if not all new video cards support widescreen. For older ones, an updated driver should do the trick.

Am trying to re-arrange my setup and I need longer VGA cable (am using D15 to D15).

Where can you get a 5 meter VGA cable?

Thanks.

Just upgraded my HTPC with this case:

http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/Desktop/D_PC-880.htm

I use to have the classic PC60 Lian Li case (upright tower).

I will post pix soon.

My setup consists of:

MSI P4N SLI motherboard
3 GHz Pentium IV
1GB RAM
2 pcs 180 GB Seagate SATA
MSI NX6600GT graphics card (single card only, soon will be using 2 cards for SLI)
Sony DVD burner
Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard
Dlink USB wireless lan
Toslink cable going to the AVR

For monitor, I use a 32" Samsung LCD and Infocus projector using the VGA port.

For AVR am currently using a Denon 1804 driving Acoustic Research S40 fronts and center, and Wharfedale surrounds.

Software: Zoom Player with all the filters and tweaks, Xlobby for Music.

I went fishing the other day, and I caught a BIG ONE!

from what I know, it depends on the video chip embedded on the mobo and not dependent on how you source it out to your monitor. I believe even the plain vga out can trans out any hd source yun nga lang analog instead of dvi and hdmi which are digital.

Try to get a line conditioner for your HTPC setup. Here is a SMS from a satisfied BADA Line Conditioner user who bought one for his PC and audio system:

" Ok a. I heard more background instruments.. Certain details that were lost and very quiet background. My pc seems even zipier and so w/ internet. All plugged in. "

Next SMS "the grains in my LCD are also not as obvious as before."

Hi Guys,

Just a question.. Im using a 22 inch widescreen LCD with resolution of 1680x1050, my video card is GeCube RADEON X800GT. I was wondering if my setup is already achieving HD Resolutions (1080i), if not, what should I do to achieve this?

Thanks!!

I am using Zoom Player, with good results.

Google zoom player, including ffdshow and other filters and read up on how to set it up, you will be amazed how good the picture quality is incluidng upsampling from regular DVD resolution to HD resolution.

Also, try to surf around avsforum.com for their "how-to" posts on HTPC.

Good luck.

I suggest you check  the Tv tuners for PC's as most come w/ remote ,

Or use a rechargeble battery for your logitech .. The mouse would last for 3 weeks w/ a 2100mah rechargeble, for the keyboards regular alkaline can last up to a year....

Check your cable.  I had a problem with colors also before with my pj hooked to a PC.  The cable was defective and when I changed it to a better one, colors were corrected and accurate.  ;D

I also get reddish tones when using overlay mode using powerdvd also blacks are burnt.I click enable vmr in the Nvidia control panel (classic) Video overlay tab. This corrects the colors and has a wider dynamic range where blacks have more detail.
Hope this helps.

Updated my previous setup:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Intel DG965RY Motherboard
XFX GeForce 7900GS 480M Edition
2x1GB Corsair Value Select DDR2-667
80GB Seagate SATA
200GB Seagate PATA (converted to SATA)
250GB Seagate SATA2
Sony DVDRW DRU-810A
Generic 500W PSU and...
HEC PowerOp 475W PSU
Cooler Master Stacker casing <-- a bit taller than the B&W 602 S3
Creative Audigy 2ZS
Creative Megaworks 550 5.1 <-- selling this and replace with B&W 602 S3
Linksys WRT54G router
Genius Luxemate KB <-- planning to replace with a Logitech S150 cordless KB
Logitech optical mouse <-- planning to replace with a Logitech V200 cordless
17" ADI Microscan CRT <-- planning to replace with a Viewsonic 19" LCD or better

When I sell my speakers I will be replacing my sound system with an Onkyo amp. I just need that extra cash to buy those B&W and Onkyo from this speakers.

If all goes well according to plan, I would be very satisfied with this setup and finish completing my sound system to 5.1 since my current plans for the audio department is 2.0-channel only.
