« on: Mar 25, 2011 at 09:25 PM »
Mga brader Im planning on buying a 110v receiver and plugging it to the 110v outlet of my automatic voltage regulator, but im wondering if I can use a surge protector or line conditioner that is rated for 220v between the receiver and avr

mas maganda yung surge protector before avr na para pati avr mo protektado sa surge

brader jojo ibig sabihin ba if the voltage regulator spikes above 110v it will not protect the receiver?

you can retrofit your 110 volt appliance with a 140Volt MOV, installing it after the fuse will buy you peace of mind from your gear being accidentaly pugged into 220 volts...
That's OK, you can like or dislike anything you choose. That's the wonderful thing about the freedom

YES.

Even if you follow markcrenz advise and your regulator goes berserk, your receiver will still be fried.

oh there it is, this is what you should do but do it properly.

when I said do it properly, I meant you need to locate the MOV in such a way that when it's breakdown voltage is breached a secondary fuse will be opened thereby protecting your precious...  ;)

you cannot just solder them wherever you can, otherwise, they are utterly useless brader. :)

better you do it on the denon brader since it is 110V. nope hindi pwede brader, just concentrate on the denon because you need to protect it for being 110V.

most modern electronics have built-in LC na sa loob. nilalagyan na nila for their own protection sa unnecessary warranty repairs. if you open it at may nakita kang coil, mov at cap sa main supply yun na yun.

if you do this, your power cable will act as the fuse, right after the fuse is the right place to put the mov....in the event that your unit is accidentally plugged into 220v, then your fuse blows and no other harm is done...
