you can retrofit your 110 volt appliance with a 140Volt MOV, installing it after the fuse will buy you peace of mind from your gear being accidentaly pugged into 220 volts...

when I said do it properly, I meant you need to locate the MOV in such a way that when it's breakdown voltage is breached a secondary fuse will be opened thereby protecting your precious...
you cannot just solder them wherever you can, otherwise, they are utterly useless brader.
