bro. puro 100V dun. galing kasi japan. mga orig remote naman tsambahan. but you can use your receiver's remote for the CDP's.

For sony talaga going rate is at least P2000. I bought 2 models with tda1541a in them, umabot ng P2,500. Pinatulan ko narin because of the DAC.  ;D

good luck

Usually ang best course of action is to go there, then list the models that you can find that more or less suits your tastes. Then go find a internet cafe shop and surf the models that you have listed. try to learn as much as you can so that when you come back to the shop you already have an idea which is an apple and which is a lemon from the bunch.

Eh sir kahit naman mag search ako sa internet about those cdp hindi ko rin  maiintindihan yung mga specs nila... All i can do is pumili ng magandang intsura para sa paningin ko and test it kung nag play, kapag maganda and mura and nag-play ok na sakin...

Totoo 'yan. Mas mahal talaga yung Sony ES series - the higher the model number, the better and more expensive - pero pwede namang tawaran depende sa condisyon at sa demand.

Kung maraming kalaban, under-testing sa shop at maganda ang naririnig, I'll use quick indicators: ang magandang klase (uulitin lang ang original post three years ago): mabigat compared with other available units; with two sets of connectors at the back - variable and fixed; could read CD-R and three-inch discs (magdala ka); mabilis magbasa; at hindi tumatalon pag biglang hinawakan or konting pinalo ang CDP body. Units with faulty drawers are the easiest to fix, just open the unit, find the motor that drives the drawer and replace the rubber belt. For the more adventurous, potentiometers for adjusting lens focus and tracking are also found on the main boards. Naalala ko nag-post rin ako nyan two or three years ago.

Again, Japan-standard appliances are regarded as superior quality-wise than international-standard appliances. That's because they hardly compromise on quality since Japanese consumers can afford to pay more for the improved quality That's the reason why their best hifi were not sold outside Japan. The bottom line? Japanese standard units with 100 volts (not 110V - hindi yan magtatagal pag 110V transformer ang ginamit) should be priced higher than 220/240 units. The good thing is local traders are quoting those Jap junks (surplus units) at give-away prices and most local consumers prefer 220/240 units! Guys like me end up as winners, or losers, depende yan -- take note that a surplus unit could be a true junk.

Here's one source again for buyers sensitive to DACs installed in their CDPs (if you're wondering where the Burr-Brown Corp. chips are, they're also coded as PCMs):
http://www.freeweb.hu/mestertuning/dac.php?lang=en

Here's a list of Sony ES CDPs with details (use AltaVista translator): http://cdp101.hp.infoseek.co.jp/esseries-main.html

Here's a directory of Japanese hifi -- with brands, models, original prices, and details -- some of which you might see at the Pier:

Sir,

Our Sony 502ES is playing an average of 5-6 hours a day, still going strong. Thanks!

naku pachino, one thing you should learn first is not to compare cd players with turntable/vynils, it's like walking around with a sign saying "Shoot Me!", you'll be a walking target for sure.  ;D ;D ;D

cd and vynils have different characteristics, never confuse one for the other  ;).

You are correct though that DACs convert digital to analog, but the analog here is not the analog term coined for turntables. In simple terms, the analog term in a cd player pertains to the audio (sinewave) signals as opposed to 1's and 0's of a digital signal.

Hope this helps.  :)
