I think they would start the same way even if the trade was approved.. No Gasol/Odom/Bynum and only CP3 added? tapos Kobe and CP3 don't complement each other pa.. still just 2 games in.. a lot could still happen kahit na 66-game season lang.. I still think they will be contenders even with just Kobe/Pau/Bynum.. dapat healthy lang lahat..

I just hope they click with the new coach.

Lakers still have a decent line up. Some new players, a New Coach, perhaps they just need to be familiar with one another.
Bynum, Gasol, Artest, Bryant, and Fisher is a solid 5 for LA.
They do heve the energy guys off the bench in McBob, Barnes, Blake and the newbies.
We'll see if they can gel in due time and not continue to lose and frustrate Bryant.

I hope they gel quickly as fast as how announcers got used to "Metta World Peace"!! He scored 19 pts earlier, by the way...

Yes World Peace gives toughness to the Lakers and he contributes well in offense although not creative as Odom.

I don't think Phil Jackson would've made a difference.  The Lakers started to unravel as early as last season.  Remember the excuses that they get bored during the regular season, they perform only during the playoffs, they sleep-walk during the early parts of the regular season.  And it was only accentuated when they were swept rather embarrassingly by Dallas.  That was why the trade for Chris Paul was so important.  It could have re-energized the team.

Lamar would be of no help at all, if he was still in LA. Look at how poorly he has played so far in Dallas. LA needs a guard to step up and create plays and DFish and Blake aren't going to do it.

Its been only 2 games. He will not get used to Rick Carlisle's system in just 2 games. And with just only 2-3 games they played in the pre-season, it will take some time. Lamar is a great addition to Dallas because they need a deep bench and Lamar gives them that. Its just that they haven't figured out how to play with one another.

I think Boston is the last team that pulled off with a new roster that started the season with virtually a new revamped roster and win a championship.

Holy crap is Ricky Rubio good at passing. Reminds me of Pistol Pete with those nice unexpected but pinpoint passes.

Re: Howard to Bulls

I'd love to see Dwight there. It would be great to have D12 at Chicago, but not at the expense of Noah. IMHO, Noah is the better all-around defender than D12. The Bulls center can practically guard any position out there and I like how active and pestering he can be to the opposing team. But I guess it's easy to include any other Bull other than Rose when it's Dwight. But right now, Chicago is set at all position and don't really need Dwight.

i agree howard is really a good player but him over Noah id rather continue investing on Noah. He may not be as good offensively but the hussle and defensive efforts he brings every game is something i cant not just throw outside the window

Beg to disagree,...
Noah was hardly a factor nung finals, same as Boozer,
Bulls need fresh legs to complement the game of Rose...

Howard has no post game. FT%, TO sucks. He can dunk, yes, but still worth 2 points. No hussle, can't pass.

but he has been in the finals.

howard is really good but i dont think he can bring the Bulls the crown on his firts try, having said so, id rather get someone of less quality and keep Noah as invesment perhaps if the trade would not involve noah then better.

Noah is fine but Boozer, should be on the trading block.
I think the BULLS should move D Rose to the off guard position so there will be more movement rather than letting him play point, set the plays and attack the basket afterwards. Thats too tiring for their main man.

I think Gasol is the best post up player in the NBA today.

Who will play point? Besides, can Rose defend against bigger SGs?

I agree, and Chicago would be wise to cook up a trade for him.

yes, he crashes the board and come on strong but almost always coming from a pass, he is good in providing help defense but i dont think as good in providing one on one defense, at his age right now, i dont think he can still improve on the things cited above

id rather get someone who will play good point guard chores for them, should make rose more lethal complemented by the rest of the gang

Thats for the BULLS to figure out but certainly if there's a 6'5 point guard out there then that should solve the mismatch in height should D Rose be moved to SG.
Rose will be more effective, more unpredictable moving w/o the ball.

I still recall Coach Larry Brown moving Allen Iverson to SG and let Eric Snow play the point for the Sixers and that worked wonders for the Sixers as it made Iverson a bigger threat in offense.
They could have won the NBA Championship that year but the Lakers was just over powering.

i agree that DRose should be moved to the off guard position. remember dywane wade started out as a point guard and his game flourished when he moved to the off guard position. DWade and DRose are practically the same size.

i was envisioning the same scenario sir, playing off guard for Rose may somewhat put up a challenge on the defensive end being not that tall but he is not that short either and for what is believed as the lack of height, Rose can very well compliment with his streght and speed, I even believe this will actually cause mismatches for the opposing team.

Wade is different though, he's very very strong and he's probably the best shot blocking guard ever. I wouldn't say that he flourished because he moved to a more natural SG position(same position he played in college), it's more of a case of a rookie improving in his 2nd year.

I don't think it matters whether Rose is SG or PG, he'll still be the one hogging all the usage. In almost every conceivable scenario, he'll still be the one creating plays and creating his own shot. Same skill set, same weaknesses. It's almost like saying moving Duncan from PF to C would make a difference.

Chicago doesn't need Derrick Rose to move to SG, they just need a better SG.

^getting a better SG is easier. Or better yet, getting someone better that Brewer/Korver/Hamilton is easier than getting a "decent PG".

It also depends on what you mean by decent PG too. Is Derek Fisher decent? Ricky Rubio? Ty Lawson maybe? I can't think of any scenario wherein the Bulls won't suffer defensively.

Boston still has their BIG 4 but there's a HOLE in the Middle and minus Glen Davis and Jeff Green, i dont think they can compete with Miami.

The Celtics BIG 3 are OLD and that leaves only Rondo to spark the team and thats not enough specially during playoffs.
