Dan Gilbert helped out the Lakers because we can be the WC team that can stop Lebron and the Heat in the Finals.

trading Fish might be the better choice instead of benching him (Sessions and Blake ahead of him)

but the leadership factor will be greatly missed.. and those clutch moments

The Golden State Warriors traded swingman Stephen Jackson to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday for small forward Richard Jefferson and a conditional first-round draft pick this year.

The New Jersey Nets have acquired Gerald Wallace from the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Nets sent center Mehmet Okur and forward Shawne Williams to Portland along with their own 2012 draft pick.

The Houston Rockets have acquired center Marcus Camby from Portland and Derek Fisher and a 2012 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in separate trades.
The Rockets are sending point guard Jonny Flynn, center Hasheem Thabeet and a second-round pick to the Trail Blazers and forward Jordan Hill to the Lakers.

The Denver Nuggets agreed Thursday to ship big man Nene to Washington in a three-team deal, with the Wizards sending JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf to Denver and Nick Young to the Los Angeles Clippers.Washington also picked up forward Brian Cook in the deal.

The Indiana Pacers acquired guard Leandro Barbosa from the Toronto Raptors for a second-round draft pick.

Yes sir.  He even won a ring there vs.  Jason Kidd's Nets sa Finals.

Tweets from Jarrett Jack and Wade on Howard's decision to extend his stay in Orlando:  ;D

@Jarrettjack03: S/O to @dwighthoward for being loyal and not following this whack trend in the league of dudes trying to team up.#standonyourown2

@DwyaneWade: Loyalty hahahahaha

With D12 staying put, I think we'll see Deron Williams in a Mavs uniform next year.  Gerald Wallace is a good starting piece for the Nets, but without the D12 guarantee, the Nets will have problems attracting other pieces in the off-season to keep Williams.

The Fisher trade really stings.  But it's a business.  Looks like they don't intend to have him bought out so that he can come back to LA - which makes the Lakers' game at Houston next week *interesting*.  Yeah, I'm also looking forward to hear what Kobe has to say about this.

On the flipside, no question Sessions addresses LA's needs at PG.  He's not going to contain the likes of CP3, Westbrook, Parker, but chances are better with him trying to do that than Fisher/Blake.  The addition of Jordan Hill to the second unit IMO is also key esp. on the defensive end.

Great trade for the Clips.  They addressed a major need at SG by getting Nick Young and losing just Brian Cook and a pick.  The Nene - Javale McGee swap is a wash.

Same for the Spurs.  I expect Captain Jack to play better under Pop's system.

Somewhat surprised that the Celtics didn't make a move.  At least their Big Three will ride off into the sunset together...

Here's the thing that will sting more.  Even if Fisher is bought out in Houston, under the new CBA... Fisher can't resign with LA during the current season.  So talagang lost na siya until matapos yun 2012 season.  Earliest would be next season na.

For Boston, I guess Ainge learned a lesson na from last year where they were under the very same circumstance they are in now.  Last year he panicked in making a trade after all the injuries happened.  He destroyed the team's chemistry and it cost them a run to the finals.  So mas conservative na siya this year,

Re new CBA, thanks didn't know that.  Well, guess we've really seen the last of Fisher in a Lakers uniform.  I doubt if he'll be brought back next year.

Re Boston, yeah, prudence is the better part of valor.  I really think they should build around Rondo, and all the trade rumors about him in the past weeks were nuts.

Im happy with what the Lakers had done...

They kept the Kobe-Bynum-Gasol core.   Addressed a need at PG.   Got younger pieces.  Unloaded Walton and Kapono (logjam at SF)....and they saved money too.

Regarding Fisher....his contributions will be remembered and cherished...but cmon now, he is 37 and clearly was on the decline.  Coldhearted move....but its the nature of the business.  Kupchak owes it to the team, management and fans to keep dealing to keep the team competitive.

Session highlights....finally a Laker PG who can slash and drive...

D12 opted in so he'll still be under contract for one more season 2012-2013.
