Teng looks like the lead in a shallow batch of rookies.

No word yet on Buenafe - but if he does suit up for ADMU, it will be good times once more down Katipunan.

Arvie Bringas ..... cant recall when he left DLSU, but he has to serve 2-yrs residency with FEU - dont know when he becomes eligible.

Good for FEU if ever Bringas gets to play this season - he's tough just like his brother. He'll be a decent replacement for Noundou.

Arvie Bringas is an undersized power forward so he didnt click much in DLSU.
I really doubt if he can make an impact with FEU.

Gee yoU aRe yoU!

DLSU under the Pumaren system is basically a suffocating pressing defense than forces turn overs for opportunities to quick baskets while preventing opposing teams' defenses to set up.
Pumaren's years of success with DLSU were with very talented backcourt players like Ritualo, Cortez, Cardona, Yeo, Casio with were good on the open court.
Those years, DLSU doesnt really have dominant Centers and Power Forwards w/c other team had but they were successful.

Arvie Bringas did show flashes of brilliance during his short stint with DLSU ..... saw a few games wherein he ruled the paint.

The kid was immature when he entered DLSU - probably due to the hype he got coming from his great juniors stint.

Agreed that his game was a bit ill-suited for Pumaren's offense ..... also didn't help that the kid had academic issues in school.

The extended rest & seeing his brother doing good, might just spur him to do better ...... good for FEU if he becomes eligible this upcoming season.

i think arvie bringas will be eligible (having served the 2 year residency already). tamang tama lang din kasi wala na si aldrech ramos, cawaling and noundou.

sa mga upcoming rookies, may super rookie/s ba na padating?

I think 1 year lang and residency di ba.. imagine Bringas brothers and 2 good guards of FEU at the same time.. but I really like NU's chances, sana may makuha silang Point Guard to compliment Parks..
The Pats way...

2 year residency if college / university na nilipatan is within same community (uaap or ncaa) so if dlsu siya dati and then lipat feu - 2 years dapat. pero kung ginawa niya is dlsu and then balik ng baste eh 1 year residency lang need niya.

Speaking of Jeron Teng, he and his Xavier High Stallions just lost by 6 points to the Hope Christian High School team at the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Tournament last night at the UNO Gymnasium.
Its gona be quite a challenge for him to finish his last year in High School with a Championship.

taken from UAAP guidelines:

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
1.Transfer Students
1.From UAAP Member University
1.An undergraduate transferee who is an athlete (regular or training team) from a UAAP member University must establish two (2) years – meaning 730 calendar days of continuous residency in such Member University.
2.The resident years of an athlete will be counted as two (2) playing years if he/she transfers to another Member University.
3.Athletes who transfer from a UAAP Member University to another UAAP Member University shall only be required to establish one-year residency instead of two (2) years if such athletes are voluntarily released with a written clearance by the concerned UAAP Member University.

should he be released with a written clearnce by dlsu, eh pwede naga siguro siya ng 1 year residency lang...

Former UAAP courtside reporter and UP varsity volleyball team captain Maan Panganiban has passed away (lymphoma).

She was 25.

She was not the prettiest courtside reporter but she was definitely one of the best.  May her soul rest in peace.

NCAA metes out a 2 year suspension for Frankie Lim and SSC Volleyball team coach Roger Gorayeb.. some SBC players also suspended one game and 2 players serving residency were given an additional year before they get to play for SBC.. not final yet though.. subject for appeal pa from SBC and SSC..

that's a pretty hard penalty from the NCAA.. I'm actually surprised..

^ That's a bit harsh ..... even the NBA's "Malice at the Palace" brawl didn't result in such long penalties.

A 1-year suspension for the coaches should have been fine with me ..... I'm thinking that the appeal will lower the penalties to acceptable levels.

so the NCAA accepted the MANCOM recommendations with revisions.. 2 year ban for Frankie Lim and Roger Gorayeb.. the 2 SBC players serving residency (Ola Adoegun/Julius Armon) are barred from entering any NCAA venue for next season.. the whole SBC team seems to have been suspended for their 1st game next season.. 11 players given 1-game suspensions tapos 3-game suspension for Dave Marcelo.. Marcelo has used up all his playing years with Beda already so I don't know how will serve that suspension..

It will be an interesting 1st game for the Red Lions next season.. Team B malamang ang maglalaro..

Agree..that is too much. I hope San Beda takes a leave of absence from the entire season and thinks of leaving the effing league....and move to UAAP. I heard this was already being discussed in the past years.

NCAA set to bar foreign players

Now this is a welcome development although it is still on the planning stages. I hope UAAP follows after.

I don't know why the NCAA became xenophobic all of a sudden.  San Beda just proved that they can win without their import.

I believe we should still allow foreign players to play to increase the level of competition in the college ranks.  This would translate to us having a stronger youth base for our national team.

What they should ban are players over 23 years old and handlers/managers.

+1000

I'm from the UAAP but what the other NCAA schools don't realize is that with this move the "budget" allocated for foreign players will now be free and can be allocated to acquiring the best local talent available thereby the other schools will be deprived of the chance to recruit these promising local players. The foreign players actually provide an overall benefit to the development of the league and the skills of the local talent.

What would these "patriotic" people do if filipino players were banned from joining US NCAA teams as the reasons would be that they are bumping off local US citizens from playing?

I think the writers of inboudpass has their thoughts on this issue as well and echoes these same sentiments as well.
