Since NU will be the host the Arena will be used for the UAAP opening and around 60%(?) of the time for the basketball games. The rest will be split up between Araneta and Philsports or BEG (for the small crowd drawing games).

Good.  This'll be interesting.  And I'm excited to see how NU will fare this season.

As for my Red Lions, they will be playing with only 6 players in the opener >:(

Semerad twins are are enrolled but not in the team yet.  I asked around earlier and they said MVP already talked to the monks to get them back in the team.  Most likely they will be back.  Coach Ronnie wants them in the lineup for sure.  Of course, we like them back since Armon is no longer with us.

Malakas talaga Bulldogs, Brader Tirso! Iba kasi talaga pag properly funded...maganda na ang recruitment program ng NU ngayon...during my dad's time when he was King Bulldog, minsan abonado pa daw sila na sapatos and uniform hehe!

The NBA is over so time to shift my attention to the UAAP.
SM owned NU Bulldogs making lots of noise that they are serious contenders this season.
I still doubt if they can beat ATENEO specially with the return of Ryan Buenafe.

My forecast for the final 4 : ATENEO, LA SALLE, UST and NU.

teka yung Abueva at Sangalang ba mag lalaro pa din sa baste? ang lakas nung dalawang yun.

Slaughter still with Ateneo so First 5 will include Buenafe, Salva, Ravena plus their point guard.
Palaban naman lagi ang UST so makakasilat din yan.
I still doubt NU will bag the crown this year and deny Black a 5 peat.

I'm putting Adamson over UST, as long as Nuyles is playing, they're still a top four team.. DLSU I think has the best backcourt in Revilla and Teng..

In NCAA, watch out for Mark Cruz.. Go Knights..

not just yet perhaps but its always nice seeing a different school getting stronger, parang palagi na lang LSL and ADMU

what happened to Adamson? they used to contend?

by the way who is the best PG in UAAP now?

NU will be very formidable in the coming years but as for this year, i doubt they'll reach the finals (but hey, it's the UAAP! full of surprises!). The team is built on Parks and Mbe if the bench can't step up when one of those two is taken out of the equation then they'd be very hard pressed to win the game. The bench has a couple of 3 point shooters. So if parks and mbe get covered by a double team they can kick it out and rotate the ball to a free player for a 3 ptr. or easy 2.

Ateneo will be quite thin at the PG position. The losses of Emman and Kirk will hurt the transition offense game of the Blue eagles! Emman Monfort provided the stability and playmaking for us and was number 1 in FT's and 2nd or 1st in assist in the league. He was good in defense as well. Very pesky and rock solid body to take charges and fishing for fouls. Also, Kirk Long is gone. He was the defense specialist who locked down the best player of the opposing team. Playing against NU, Parks would be limited (but still get to score at least 10) and bothered throughout the game to truly breakout. Both players were speed demons and defense oriented that helped fuel the fast break and transition game of ateneo.

Even with this. I believe! 5 peat would be the end goal to cap coach NB's collegiate coaching career.

P.S. Hopefully Ryan loses 15lbs more to be able to move faster but still have enough mass to bang bodies.

I'll put UST over Adamson.

Adamson lost = Canada, Alvarez, Colina and Lozada. They don't have a decent center. I admit Nuyles is really good and coach leo is one of the best bench tacticians (limited only by the quality of players he has) but I'll have UST since they'll only be losing only one notable player i think which is chris camus. their center Abdul is undersized but is quite strong.

Dlsu has a plethora of guards. They have a security agency down there. Watch out for Mark Tallo (who should have stayed in Ateneo! but was impatient and moved for the promised PT).

NU will be there to contend will not be the doormat team they used to be (UP na! haha!), with the massive funds poured in their program with a few notable players hidden in team b (1 or 2 africans and Alejandro) and more blue chip recruits in the future they'd be a force to reckon with! Prospective recruits will now look at NU as the offer is quite *good*. SM's got it all for you!

Let's not forget about FEU, dmi rin surprises yan and they do recruit good native players. They may even enter the Final via back door if UST, DLSU and NU get bad breaks during the course of the tournament.

Parks plays for the Philippines and is listed in FIBA records as pinoy.  He speaks fluent Tagalog.

http://www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/a-very-early-look-at-uaap-season-75-basketball

FEU Tamaraws

Losses:
Jens Knuttel (6.3 minutes – 0.2 points, 0.5 rebounds, 1 assist)
JR Cawaling (16.5 minutes – 7 points, 1.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists)
Pipo Noundou (1 minute – 2 points)
Aldrech Ramos (33.4 minutes – 11.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.1 blocks)
Ping Exciminiano(20.8 minutes – 5.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 steals)

A return to the finals earned FEU the same result, another thumping from the Blue Eagles. They’ll be hoping that third time will be a charm, but should that happen, expect a much different team when you look past RR Garcia, Terrence Romeo and Russel Escoto. A

combination of injuries and a general lack of personnel made it tough for the Tamaraws to battle Ateneo’s frontline, but they’ll be reinforced in Season 75 by as many as three big men.

First is Anthony Hargrove, a 6-foot-5 American transferee from the Technological Institute of the Philippines who, ironically, spent some time with Ateneo before making his way to Morayta.

Then there’s a more familiar name, Arvie Bringas, the one-time Green Archer and the brother of Mark. Now fully released from DLSU, he’ll probably be raring to play, hopefully down low instead of on the perimeter hoisting up triples.

Finally, Mark Bello, a 6-foot-5 provincial recruit, might be called to make the leap to team A. But if it’s more scoring on the perimeter that they want, they’ll get it in the form of 2010 NCAA juniors MVP Gino Jumao-as, and another prominent NCAA juniors name, Archie Ingio, a former Letran Squire. The question for FEU still remains, however: “Who will distribute the ball for all these guys?”
----------

We'll see how FEU can recover from the losses of three of their frontline as Hargrove does not have that high of a basketball IQ. Have not seen Mark Bello play. The key to FEU this coming season is how Romeo and Garcia mix together as Romeo is a ball hog and so is Garcia (but more effective).

FEU can still be in the final four and make UST and NU work for it as well. They have not fared that well in the pre-season tournaments losing to all the projected final four teams if i remember correctly.

Isn't Garcia a former MVP? And during crucial stretches of their ball games, isn't he FEU's go-to-guy? Garcia is a better point guard than Romeo, who'd rather shoot than pass the ball. IMO the problem with FEU is consistency. They know how to play to their strength, but are not consistent enough. If Escoto beefs up without losing his agility and quickness, he'd be hard to stop as he can play inside and outside
