Isn't Garcia a former MVP? And during crucial stretches of their ball games, isn't he FEU's go-to-guy? Garcia is a better point guard than Romeo, who'd rather shoot than pass the ball. IMO the problem with FEU is consistency. They know how to play to their strength, but are not consistent enough. If Escoto beefs up without losing his agility and quickness, he'd be hard to stop as he can play inside and outside

Agree with your points. I think the the coach / management can't "control" Romeo and he just shoots when he can and does not pass to Garcia. They both actually play more SG than PG. They're probably grooming romeo to take over Garcia who'll graduate already after this season.

As for Escoto and the rest of the team is as you said needs consistency. Escoto is quick and agile.

I'm not excited over the NCAA, not lots of competitive and exciting teams to watch, too many games but San Beda will still prevail in the end probably against the Letran Knights in the finals.

http://www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/super-six-enough-for-san-beda-against-arellano-in-ncaa-debut

Undermanned Red Lions beat Arellano, 81-71.

Pure heart of a champion, so they say.  But I guess it's really the conditioning of the players.  Not known to many, the US training of San Beda is pure conditioning.  Talagang puro pampalakas ng resistensya ang training sa USA and that has been one advantage of the Lions.  In last year's NCAA finals, San Sebastian almost beat San Beda in the final game but napagod yun Abueva, Pascual kaya hindi naka execute ng maganda.  San Beda's conditioning is second to none in the league and they will run down their opponents sa takbuhan at sa hustle.  I haven't seen the style of Coach Ronnie but I guess pareho din kay Coach Frankie.  Maybe better ;D

Arriba Letran! ;) Been 13 years since I've last watched them play live--and it was a Finals game against JRU. It was an ugly match, I'd say, and I remember getting trapped inside Philsports Arena for two hours. ;D

i'll be cheering for LETRAN!
Masyado na dominant ang San Beda so gusto ko dehado ang manalo and i think its about time the sacrifices of the Alas family to give honor to Letran be recognized.

I would go with the UAAP team.  Ola can't stop Slaughter, and no one can stop Parks.

If that's the "dream team" for both leagues, hands down UAAP will win...

PS: Glad that Norbert Torres finally improved his game...last year he was shooting bricks from the 3pt. area considering he is a power forward!!

http://www.inboundpass.com/2012/07/07/arellano-ends-skid-gain-1st-win/

Arellano University, behind Fil Canadian James Forrester's 18 points and 11 rebounds, barged into the win column via a pulsating and bruising win over Letran.  A reserve, I think this boy will have more playing time in the days to come.

Game was so heated that Letran supporters charged at the referees’ room during halftime.  Good thing security was able to prevent any untoward incident.

Yup!  But UPH went on to beat an undermanned San Beda team.

UPH is coached by Aric Del Rosario, one of the best college coach in the Philippines.

That steal should not have been allowed. It should have been a re-throw in. The defender was too close to the inbounder. When the UPH player touched the ball, it was still in the inbounder's hands. But I guess the play was too fast for the refs to catch, thus breaks of the game.

Games like this are difficult to watch. It drains you when your team loses but it energizes you when your team wins.

That UPH-SBC game had one of the wildest finishes I've seen in a long while ..... great game from both teams.

Aric Del Rosario is no stranger to finishes like this though.

The last wild finish I recall watching, was the '94 UAAP Finals between UST-DLSU ..... Bal David's 2FT's in the dying seconds, then Lago & Telan's point-blank misses to win it for UST.

Great game for NU but an eyesore overall. they should have a mercy rule. If that's how UE will play they might find themselves at the bottom. UP will take 7th place.

Not so sure yet of the DLSU squad. Struggled against UP. Probably they'll pick up the pace as the season progress.

As for Admu, it will be a grinding week for them. 3 straight games this week. Adu today, UST on thursday and NU on sunday next week. Whereas NU gets 8 days off.

It was satisfying to see brodial and camson struggle in the second half when the Ateneo defense adjusted to them. I think they were limited to 4 points only in the 2nd half. Wiped the smirk off brondial whose scoring was primarily off the decoy play of nuyles and the timely assists he gets from nuyles and camson.

What both adamson and ateneo needs are the backcourt. Will have to see if juami and nico elorde picks their game up to fill in the big shoes left by the small yet stalwart Monfort who provided the court generalship and stability that ran the plays and fueled the fastbreaks of Ateneo.
