One thing about UST's Mariano ...... the kid has exceptional footwork - his pivots, drop-steps, body & ball fakes are some of the most mature in all of local college hoops.

Like I said, if Mariano wasn't injured last season ...... UST might've entered the Finals or at the very least, give a genuine scare to ADMU.

A Camus & Mariano tandem would have been fun to watch ..... sayang.

The referees allowed Ferrer to get away with a lot of things. But that's part of the the game. Parks wasn't able to adjust his game. Altamirano should have been more vehement in complaining to the referees. The only instance he was on the referees was when one of his players got bloodied by an elbow from Abdul.

Bulok ung mga refs. Ferrer was getting away with a lot of things. One of the dirtiest players i've seen. Taunting which was strictly enforced in the past season was forgotten. A lot of elbows by ferrer on BRP wasn't seen. Fortuna taunting BRP during a crucial free throw was not even called.

During the Ateneo UP game, no unsportsmanlike foul was called on padilla. It was clearly shown he wasn't going for the ball. Coach Dandan was stepping onto the court a lot of times and in one instance he was near the shaded lane already.

The refs are clearly allowing more contact this season ...... dunno who or if there's even a commissioner nowadays.

Ferrer did what he had to do - limit the most talented player in the UAAP right now ..... Pido Jarencio did come from Jaworski's school of make-your-fouls-count.

Ferrer played Parks physical almost the whole game ...... If anything, Parks (and Altamirano) should've tried selling the fouls, early.

It was only during desperation hour that Parks did enough to sell the fouls ..... and Ferrer was actually called for fouls late in the game.

================================================================================

Fortuna's taunts were okay for me ...... common to see those even in the pro hoops - psyching-out the FT shooter during tight moments.

However, vehement & in-your-face finger-pointing, wagging, shouting, etc should be no-nos.

================================================================================

..... Coach Dandan was stepping onto the court a lot of times and in one instance he was near the shaded lane already.

Now, this to me is one of the most annoying and definitely UNDERLOOKED offense in all of local hoops (amateur and pro) ....... coaches actively being inside the court - even during a live ball.

In the PBA, almost every coach is guilty of this annoying offense ...... Jong Uichico and Siot Tanquincen are easily the top-offenders here - since they call out almost every play from the sidelines, with both feet clearly inside the court.

Wow ..... that's old-school right there.

Many old timers like Big Boy Reynoso, Onchie Dela Cruz, etc would have been proud of Bringas.  ;D

Seriously, the Bringas brothers are known bruisers/hot-heads on the court ..... I kinda expect altercations whenever FEU plays ADMU - just not the spitting kind.

Slaughter decided to push back during a deadball situation by bumping  Bringas, who wasnt expecting it. Bringas went down but couldnt wait for play to resume to get even. Perhaps he should learn a little finesse in playing dirty. Carlos Briggs, a former Ginebra import, when asked who he thought was a dirty player, cited Ramon Fernandez. Briggs said Fernandez was never caught by the refs since he was not obvious in hitting others. Jaworski, on the other hand, was the opposite.  ;D

Yup, Fernandez was "all-elbows" when he does those elegant shots of his ...... finesse-type players rarely get caught when they throw the elbows & the occasional hips.

Vic Sanchez & Onchie Dela Cruz are tops IMO, when it comes to being a hot-head and overall rough play.

Jaworski plays with a lot of emotion ..... everyone knows what they'll get when they watch the Big J and his boys play - great action & fouls-that-truly-count.   ;D

two buzzer-beater games.
UE beats UP on a last second triple.
FEU beats NU on a last .3 of a second lay-up by Garcia.

Great games indeed ..... can't recall a past season with this many buzzer-beaters & come-from-behind-wins.

That RR Garcia lay-up was about as close as a buzzer-beater can get ...... life is good, says Vice Ganda.  ;D

Yup, heard about NU's protest ...... understandable, since Garcia's shot was extremely close - probably the closest buzzer-beater in a long while.

However, unless the UAAP gets a higher-def / better replay ...... I dont think they'll overturn the result.

Saw the replay of this and it was really, really tight.  To have received the ball the entire length of the court, dribbled once and took two steps from where he took off....and to have released the ball,  was quite a stretch, and this all happened within two seconds.  Now if only this could be zoomed..... you guys be the judge ;)

Just wow ...... the amount of close games, buzzer-beaters & epic comebacks this season has been outstanding.

OT: The recent UE games shows what a coaching failure Jerry Codinera was.

so NU elevated the case to the UAAP Board and the Board has overturned the commissioner's decision and has ordered a replay of the game on Set. 23.. according to Inquirer..

Interesting. From the replay and the pic above, I think the ball was already out of RR Garcia's hand/fingers when the clock hit 0.0. Pwede pa ba i-appeal 'yan sa Supreme Court?  :) But at least, there'll be more UAAP action in the coming weeks.

Also watched the last few plays of yesterday's UE-ADMU game. You could somehow sense from the way the game was developing that lightning was going to strike twice c/o UE...
