Ateneo lost two key games but those were close ones without Ravena. If all players are in tip-top shape they are still contenders.

I'm not that excited anymore watching the games unlike the NBA Finals because it looks like a PBA reinforced conference with imports sidelining the local players. Pathetic

So true. Blame in on San Beda. They started it with EKWE and other teams followed with their own recruitments of imports. Hnd naman kailngan ng imports sa collegiate leagues. It's suppose to be a training ground for home grown talents. Dpat tlga ALL FILIPINO with some Fil-Ams to spice it up.

No it's La Salle who brought that trend, but those were true mestizos playing in the late 80s when they joined UAAP.  ;D Unfortunately, it's different when they started scouting players in the US like in the PBA during their downhill era. They would fake documents saying they are half Filipinos with one Filipino parent but bearing a western sounding surname behind the jerseys. Now, with that residency rule b.s. they can bring in african players to play here. Of course we would be called racists if they aren't allowed to play in the league. The physical advantage is on their side most often than not.

Just saw the news today that Ravena will be sidelined indefinitely for Ateneo. So unfortunate for them if they are gunning for Anim-O and makes an unfair advantage for other teams.

Does this season count in his eligibility to play for the team in 5 years?

Yup, this season counts under his total playing years.

Why unfair bro? ....... Ravena was injured through his own actions and regular play - the normal risk that all athletes go through.

Now, local collegiate teams with a P20+ M annual budget from persons with no academic ties to the learning institution (note that this amount is the same amount used by PBA teams to run their season) ..... local collegiate teams which employ sports agents / scouts in the USA ...... IMO these are the legit unfair advantages.  ;D

Actually nun bago pa lang collegiate basketball dito satin karamihan sa players puro foreigners. Or naturalized citizens. Look up some old pre at post WWII pics. Nun 90's lang early 2000s medyo nabawasan sila.

Anyway mabuti nga yan at masanay sila makipag bangaan sa mga malalaki at magagaling na players.

Was able to watch the game earlier between Adamson and UST.  Great comeback by the Tigers.  And a nice dagger shot by Jeric Teng to seal the game ;D

Malas pa Adamson at ninakawan yung locker room nila sa Araneta.

And speaking of dagger shots, that game-winning 3 by Sumang in the 2nd game between UE and NU was really something. The kid really has guts. Tied game, 21 secs left, no more shot clock. He let it run down to less than 10secs then he pulled up for a long 3 over Ray-Ray Parks. Swish may kasama pang foul. Napaiyak si Coach Zamar ng UE.

I missed this game.  But I noticed Sumang had good moves when I watched bits and pieces of the 1st half.  Sayang I had to leave.

Game could have gone either way. Both teams missed one key player each (Kiefer for Ateneo and LA for La Salle). Another classic La Salle-Ateneo game today. In the end, green won over blue. See you in Round 2 and hopefully in the Final Four!

Animo!

+1 how is getting a player injured equate to giving an opponent an unfair advantage. An advantage maybe but its how the game works. sometimes players get injured.

Tallo is already in Cebu. He's playing with SWU. It's his third college team in as many years.

Recently, there was an article written on Nico Elorde switching to Ateneo and Tallo switching to DLSU. link as follows:-

I mean ideally all players should be playing with their teams in this league but sitting on a bench with an injury would be the last thing to worry. Of course, not being able to play from a suspension is a different case. Agree injury would be the dealbreaker of all players in any sport.

http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/video/sports/07/10/13/usts-jeric-teng-injures-shoulder-after-push

gulpihin dapat 'tong player ng NU sa labas!

Those blindside hits almost always hurts the most, since the victim doesn't even brace for impact.

Hard to tell if the NU player did it on purpose ....... at the very least, what he did was a careless play, since those crashing the boards from the top, usually go around opponents - not run through them.

Unfortunate for both Teng and USTe.
