Pan Am is a new one hour drama series that's set to debut on ABC this September 25, 2011. Focusing on the pilots and flight attendants working for the iconic airline in 1963, the series was created by Jack Orman and produced by Sony Pictures Television, which licensed the rights to use the Pan Am name and logo in the show.

Cast includes Christina Ricci, Kelli Garner, Michael Mosley, Mike Vogel, Karine Vanasse, Margot Robbie. Goran Visnjic is also set to appear in a 4-episode arc.

Wikipedia lists this as a period drama.  Interesting...

Saw the pilot earlier, and I really enjoyed it. It's more light-hearted than most dramas, which is just fine. The espionage plot seemed bizarre though, but hey, this was taking place during the Cold War era so you never know, heh.

Other than that, the production values in this series are excellent and perfectly capture a somewhat dreamy retro vibe of 1963--the sets, fashion, music, homes, cars, aerial shots of New York, the Pan Am building, the Pan Am Clipper Jets and other details--were all awesome. The leads are all likeable, and make pleasing eye candy. Will follow this mostly for the nostalgia trip, as long as it doesn't become too soap opera-ish.
