Help on Game Console connection to Home Theater System
« on: Nov 03, 2011 at 12:04 PM »
I am pretty new to this and would like to ask for your help regarding the right connection between the LED TV-PS3/Bluray Player-DVD Home Theater system.

I was able to connect the PS3/Bluray in the TV via the HDMI cable, but I cannot seem to figure out how to connect the audio to the dvd/home theater system.  The dvd/home theater is also connected to via HDMI on port 2 to the TV and produces 5.1 stereo audio when I play the dvd.  It also has the option supposedly, for tv audio, component, etc.  What connections/cables do I need for the audio to play on the home theater?  Currently, the sound is only coming from the TV.

Please help.  Thanks.

Is it better hooking up the PS3 with an optical cable direct to the DVD/HT?  Or would it be better to maximize the HDMI connection which is already existing between PS3 and TV, then for 5.1 audio, connect the optical cable from the TV to DVD/HT?  The DVD/HT is already connected via HDMI port 2 to the TV.

it would be better but if your dvd/ht is not able to receive the signals, it wont work. as far as i know, htib's  can only send out signals thru hdmi and can only receive audio signals thru optical or rca.

Me HDMI in ba yung HTIB?

usually, wala. If merun, dun mo kabit yung ps3. It should work like an AVR.

IF wala - Connect mo yung HMDI ng ps3 sa TV, then optical out ng ps3 sa optical in ng HTIB.

Set mo sa ps3 Video - HDMI, Audio - Optical.

If wala optical, youre stuck with stereo. Just use Dolby pro logic 2 sa HTIB.

hmmm based on the topic starter, mukhang home theater dvd player in a box ata yung system nya..

few questions lang...
1.  does your dvd/amp has audio input via spdif (optical input)?

ps3 =via spdif=> dvd/amp via aux channel  i

it would be better if you try to take a pic of the input ports of the  dvd amp that you have or post the model number so i can research it for you on what it supports.
