sir dohbert,  hindi naman.  :)

i think somebody here should start a thread on easy amp tweaks/modifications like this. even fixed equipment power cords could be safely replaced. shifting into high-quality power caps, for instance, could make significant sonic difference i was told.

BG_AVI, yep, generally Denons and Onkyos are mas makalansing than HKs or even sansuis, na try mo na i-match yon sa Denon na cd player? warm sounding yung player baka makapag compensate.

Mga bossing,

Tanong ko lang kung may mga lower wattage (50 wpc or less) na integrated amp sa pier. Will use it for my bass shaker. Any idea on the price?

Thank you po.  :)

dre kung malakas ang highs nung denon i think babagay yan sa owners of wharfedale diamonds.

sir akyat,

yes there are, try going around nalang sa pier, i think lower wattage amps are equally abundant as with high wattages ones.

as to the price i am not quite sure, but the rule of the thumb there sa pier is that the higher the watts the higher is the price, so it goes without saying that a 50 below would be priced quite lower than a 22o wat amp. my guess, it will be priced around 2k to 3k, or even lower. btw, the wats is not computed per chanel, so if yopu happen to see an amp with a sticker up front with a 100w it is safe to conclude that it is rated at 50w per channel.

bro, i saw a wornout Luxman LV103 (hybrid amp) selling for 3.5k..its pretty battered..the seller said that it survived a fire from the ships engine compartment...hehe..dunno kung buhay pa yung tunog :)

i am a proud owner of a surplus luxman as well. i love it so much that after  a week of use (d pa sawa!) i sent it to an amp doctor! this to ensure a longer if not lifelong companionship with my luxman. and mind you, the hard part is that i havent had fully enjoyed it when i sent it away, now, i miss it so...

naku mukhang it have seen "bitter" days na tlga ah. and considreing it has tubes inside, being tru hell wouldnt be good for its soul. havent to tried it? at 3.5 i dont think it is still a better deal, unless of course you were able to thouroughly check it but still i am not that confident, being a surplus is one thing but surviving a fire is another. and consider this, i was able to get my lux for 3.7k only.

i think the AU-D907X is worth a second look/audition even at P7.5K. it was supposed to be the best amp (AU-D907X-Decade) in the D-line immediately before the Alpha- series was introduced. rated at 160wpc RMS @ 8 ohms (250wpc @ 4 ohms), the only difference is that the first Alpha 907 used toroidal transformer and had XLR balanced power amp jacks for optional professional use. if you're a rocker who wants to match your neighbor's Krell decibel-for-decibel, this could be an inexpensive option for a face-off with Dan D'Agostino's toys. BTW, with a maximum power consumption of just over 400 watts, the retailer got that at less than P5K, so he'll likely sell it at P6K.

sir, try to walk the walk and youll see more.

sir, if you walk a little farther, like going towards the docks yopull see a BPI bank, in the area youll see some small stores that sell mostly amps and cdps. as the place isnt well kept, cost of maintenance wont be added to the prices of their wares, but they do know what they are selling now so expect to haggle for a better bargain.

happy walking....

been to pier at lunch time to buy sana a CD player.  Went home with Technics SL-P555 cd player plus I came home with two high power amps.  Both rated at 370W, got both for Php 11.5K and the CD player for Php 2K.  I finally got the Sansui AU-D907X and also got Kenwood KA-1100SD. ;D   I'll try them later against the Sony 333ESX II and Alpine/Luxman LV-117.

thanks sir...
Also saw there was Kenwood L-03A also at 370W power.  I think this is a lower model since wala pa CD dun sa input selector nya so I opted for the KA-1100SD, instead D.A.D/Aux yung label.   Also there were Sansui AU-D707X rated at 320W, Sony 333ESat 270W and Sony 555ES.

OT, are the Sansui CD players OK?  Saw model alpha317R with MASH kaya lang parang sobrang sensitive yung lens, konting galaw lang sa case  nag-skip kaagad.

thanks...
