mines an au-d907x decade. noticed also that in the binding post area, there is placed on top of the board which is standing perpendicular to the post (i suppose this is the circuit board meant for the post), a fuse, another safety feature i guess. this fuse will probable go first before all the other parts will burn.

btw, the trafo for this amp is not your usual circle shape torriodal trafo, shaped more like square to me.

actually sir "for keeps"  na to for me, disposing of this is farthest from my mind now, lalo na at nakakabit pa sa ngayon sa pre-erotica preamp ko. sweettt....

the sticker posted by the people there at the pier was 360 watts around 160 wpc nga sir and yes have known that this is still a torroidal trafo with an enclosure specifically made for there decade edition models ata.

i will try to post the pics of its inside soon sir.

the only problem i had with this are the binding post, actually the basag na yong isa sa speaker A, and it do not accept banana plugs! ill have it replaced within the week though.

Tim left Luxman, I think, during the mid-70s to launch his own high-end brand in England. ano sir, simulan mo na rin? pangatawanan mo na yan!

i also have a luxman sir, i think its the late 70s model just couldnt recall the model as of the moment, but i think i did post it before when i first had it. though admittedly it needs aesthetic improvements and i seldom use it, i find its feature (selector switch 4ohms to 8ohms) quite nice and would be hard pressed to part with it so easily.

Ang daming kong nakitang Sansui AU-something sa pier, last I saw a few months back.  Dapat pala pakyawin na, so my son can dispose of them in 10 years.  How much kaya ang resale value after replacing all the caps? Factoring in exchange and inflation rates?

i get your point on inflation and i admit mine is not a win-win formula - there's good amount of risk involved. but i'm thinking more on enjoying music from these units, especially if each costs an equivalent of only a few days of work and my passion for collecting does not upset my finances. the nice thing about it is i could dispose these units even after 10 years without much depreciation. 907s are rare even today, by the way.

if prices of Sansui AU premium models even appreciated in US audio market, that could also happen here especially the 907s- it depends on supply and demand. it's not all ears for me. i also factor in economics in this hobby.

this is a very intresting if not tempting proposal sir.... buti nalang i already own a 907 series (model), though not an alpha, it is still a hard to find edition. i did saw several alpha models here but had second thoughts on getting it as they are low powered and relatively not well known.

im hoping i could get 1 though.... someday, keep my fingers crossed.  ;)

thnx for the info sir.......... i do have doubts about this being torroidal, however, i have seen the inside of the 907x (not a decade) and it had a circular trafo... which i presume a torroidal design. maybe the decade isnt.

I'm not an audio guru, pero makiki-sawsaw lang. Sa akin, ang maganda lang sa Marantz 'yung '60s to '70s US-made, solid state or valve. PM-54 (Japan) should be 50 to 70wpc RMS, pero kung maganda naman ang tunog, type mo, and you think the price is reasonable, okey na yan. Sa newer (Japan) models nila, ang maayos sa integrated amp yung PM-94 and PM-84, dubbed Quarter-A series, kasi automatic A-class ang takbo niya basta 25% lang ng RMS rating ang gamit mo, at malakas sila. On normal listening, basta walang true bass - such as acoustic or electronic organ low, we use no more than 10 wpc continuous even with low-efficiency speakers. Reproducing good clean bass requires at least 100wpc even with high efficiency speakers. Warehouse surplus price ng PM-74 dito sa Davao - P3.5K, as is (available two weeks ago). Sa mga surplus shops dito, PM-74 in good condition, P5K.

sir sandawa is right, and i wl repeat him here, but i however want to add, a few months back i saw a PM 84  being sold un the buy n sell papers for 8k, its being a surplus thought is what i am uncertain of, as there was no indication to that  effect. there were from time to time other marantz posted like pm 54.

and yes, i am not a surplus guru sir....  ;D

Isa pa, Online-based job ako, tambay sa desktop buong araw, hindi basta makalabas except on Saturday. I'm supposed to be in Manila 1st or 2nd week of January but I'll probably bring only two CDPs, naka-kontrata na kay JojoD. Unless he doesn't need those junks to tinker with anymore. Mahirap magdala ng audio equipment, since the well-made and powerful amp units weigh more than 20 kgs., while upscale CDPs at 10 kgs. or more.
