mga sir,

i have been to a surplus shop in my place here in the province. below are the items i am interested but wanted to ask some opinions:

Amp:
1. Yamaha AX-500 : 6k pesos
2. Victor AX-S700 : 6k

CD Player:
1. Yamaha CDX600 : 2.5k pesos
2. Denon DCD-850 : 2k pesos

Speakers:
1. Pioneer Private S792V : 3.5k (3 way, 8" woofer)
2. Sansui SCH07 : 2k (3 way, 5 1/2" woofer)

does the above items considered hi-end? alin kaya dito ang magandang amp/cd match or kung okay ang speaker isama na rin sa matching. di ko nakita itong mga model sa niji website.

mga gurus, your great help is much appreciated.

Ang mahal naman iyung mga ampli. Hindi naman sila modelo. Sa pier mas modelo pa pero mas mababa. Tinignan ko sa niji at vintageknob, hindi ko nakita iyung mga binanggit mo. Kung ganyan din lang mga modelo sa inyo mabuti pa dumaan ka na lang sa Pier. Dami ng pinasaya nung Pier na iyan

lalo na sa mga nakakauna sa hindi nakaabot

thanks sir rascal101. ang mahal talaga dito sa probinsya namin. the trader is from manila. i guess he bought his items sa pier. no warranty pa kasi di sila gumagawa e, puro selling lang. next stock daw nya will be in december. baka pahanap nalang ako sa kanya ng mga modelo na unit sa pier.

Experience ko lang sa Pier this Saturday ...

May nakita akong amplifier sa IMJR na Yamaha CA-2000. Wow ang ganda sabi ko sa sarili ko. Hindi ko alam mayroon na pa lang interesado at nakausap na iyung lalaking ka may-ari na katabi ko. Kaya lang hindi pa siya sigurado.

Anyway, pinakuha ko tapos pinatugtog ko at nagustuhan ko. Sabi ko sa babaeng may-ari na gusto ko ipa-reserve at bibilhin ko this (coming) Monday. Binigyan ko ng Php 500 iyung babaeng may-ari. Pagkatapos ng ilang minutong pakikipag-usap sa kanya biglang nakisawsaw iyung isang lalaki at sabi pina-reserve na raw niya iyung amplifier. Galit na galit at nag-kausap na raw sila nung lalaking ka may-ari. Pinatawag niya iyung lalaking ka may-ari at iyung nga sinabi niya na may usapan na sila. Sabi sa aking nung lalaking ka may-ari pasensya na lang daw.

Kainis talaga! Kung hindi ko pina audition iyung amplifier at hindi ako nagpakita ng interes hindi siguro magkakagusto iyung lalaking iyun. Sayang ... ganda pa naman tumunog ...

If I recall right, this was at the top series or a flagship onkyo integra integrated.

that's a bargain. if i'm not mistaken, someone from this thread saw an A-917F last year at the Pier but the price quoted was P6K(?). at 80wpc rating, that would be about 200 watts (or a little less) power consumption, which means the Pier traders are now using the P20 per watt guide, the factor used by Davao traders (either binabasa nila tayo or they consulted with Davao importers/traders). BTW, the Japan auction price as per mentioned URL was 25,000 yen, which is roughly $200.

cguro nga sir, when i ask them kung magkano, 5k ang turing nila sa akin, but napiga ko nga ng 4k.
btw. sir thank you nga pala sa PM mo last week, re luxman L400 and LV105.

you hit it right, sir. part of the thrill in surplus hifi collecting is haggling with traders who, sometimes, are not familiar with their commodities. i think the next step is for them is to bring down the price of other components such as vintage CDPs - P1,000 to P1,500 per unit from traders here in Davao, so the comparable range there in Manila (kasi mas mataas ang per capita income ninyo dyan) would be from P1,500 to P2,000.

you sure got a bargain for the a-917 . a friend on mine got his for 5k (black though) last month. this is rated at 80 watts 8ohms / 100watts at 6ohms. I have the champagne colored big brother of that the A-919 rated at 120 watts. I have the japanese manual of this , if you are interested . The specs are can be deciphered but the rest of the manual can't unless you can read japanese. I dont know how to attach file thru this forum but i can e mail you if interested. send me PM of your e mail add. The 919 was my first surplus amp bought 6,500 here in davao 2 years ago and have not regreted purchase. Main difference i think between the 917 and 919 is that the 919 has two transformers to run the left and right channnels. This accounts for the weight difference between the two units.

puro bikes, golf carts at refs na dumadating dito sa amin, wala nang audio. the last time i saw an Onkyo power amp here was the M-506RS at P6K. problema, i checked with Japan's Selword records at that time and completed auction price averaged only $300. that's about same quote as my Yamaha B-3 and B-4 power amps, which were bought at P5K each here.

ayaw magpa tawad ang seller, so i didn't buy the M-506. after a few days, i visited the shop again to check the unit but a pastor/priest from Cotabato beat me to it. mahirap maghanap ng M-510, i just checked with Japan's auction records, and it's still selling used at over $1,500 each, three times the average auction price of Alpha 907.

I tend to agree. But the comparison is not really fair. The 907 is an integrated. The Integra M series are power amps that are often paired with the P series of preamps. The M and P series are definitely in a class of their own.
