the onkyo integra M510 imho is miles away from the alpha 907. ;D

i also believe M-510 is superior than the original Alpha 907, but IMHO the big difference in current used pricing is a combination of model age and power ability (late '80s, early '90s vs. mid '80s for Alpha 907 / 300wpc vs 160wpc). but M-510's price for instance is at par with its contemporary, the lower-powered (160wpc) Alpha 907NRA. Sansui's TOTL in '90s, the Au-07 anniversary (only 90wpc) however, has current auction price average running twice that of M-510. it was never sold outside Japan.

here's a trivia, a US publication once noted there's a difference in the innards of the Jap domestic M-510 and the M-510 used in the international market. that's the reason why the export model was sold outside Japan at par with the domestic model or roughly $4,500. ordinarily, US price of original Jap equipment is retailed 50% higher in the US to cover for the freight and dealers' margins.

mas maganda talaga ang M-510, sir and at 63 kgs. pa, that would translate to awesome clean power. i stand corrected on the date of production - also mid '80s, but the price is correct. the yen to dollar conversion in 1984 was roughly 200 to 1, so about $4,500, same as retail price listed in Stereo Review 1989 directory.

what do you mean by "umuugong"? humming ba or high pitched?

what you can is clean your pots, a faulty bypass electro could be causing this.

there is a  voltage amp stage wherein the elctros could be leaky, that is why it is humming, have it hecked by a qualified technician.

Ok lang yan cire2005. Most speakers can take more than their power handling specifications.

it is your amp that will run out of steam before your speaker does! do not letr the power ratings get you.

Spec units are rare and are sought after:

http://www.silverpioneer.netfirms.com/power_amps.htm
http://www.silverpioneer.netfirms.com/pre-amps.htm

"Pioneer did not traditionally build separate power amps, choosing instead to build a great line of integrated amps.  But when Pioneer did build power amps, they were among the best in the world.  There were four amps of note: the very rare M-22 and M-25, and the long-lived SPEC-2 and SPEC-4"

I saw 2 spec units kay Art Flores when I went to his place several months ago.

Sa buy and sell, here are some advertisments that I saw and pasted into an excell sheet. This should give u an idea of the asking price for these power amps in the local market.

12/24/2004   PIONEER AMP. 15,000 (neg) spec-4, USA. Val 362-3605 or (0919) 8084553.
11/9/2004   PIONEER PRE-AMP. 12,000 SPEC-1, US made. (0919) 8084553.
10/29/2004   PIONEER PRE-AMP. 5,500 C73, orig. 893-6365.
6/11/2004   PIONEER PRE-AMP. 7,000 C73. 431-3581.
6/22/2004   PIONEER STEREO AMP. 8,000 Spec-4. Val (0919) 8084553.

Check out also the Pioneer elite amps, I don't know if some of these models ever find their way into the Surplus market.

http://www.elitestereo.netfirms.com/amplifiers.htm
http://www.elitestereo.netfirms.com/controlamps.htm

I saw a local ad for a Pioneer A77x once:
http://www.elitestereo.netfirms.com/a77x.htm
8/10/2004   PIONEER AMP. 18,000 A-77X, 530W, integrated. (0918) 5359528.

Once there also was an advertisment for an A400x:

4/23/2004   PIONEER INTEGRATED AMP. 8,500 A400X, mint/orig cond. 874-4553.

Other nice pioneer advertisments:

6/11/2004   PIONEER POWER AMP. 12,000 M73, 210W. 431-3581.
8/3/2004   PIONEER POWER AMP. 10,000 210W, M73 mdl. (0920) 2713448.
10/29/2004   PIONEER PRE-AMP. 5,500 C73, orig. 893-6365.
6/11/2004   PIONEER PRE-AMP. 7,000 C73. 431-3581.

Saw a Buy & Sell ad for a Sansui BA-1000 power amp for 6K last week and immedately called the seller.  Unfortunately, someone has bought it the same day the ad came out,  lucky guy, (will that be you sir Foo?)  :)

Another one was selling a BA-2000 for 7K but did not bother to call na.

I saw the add for the two Sansui power amps. I didnt bother to call the seller. The online buy and sell ad comes, I believe about two weeks behind the release of the printed magazine. So the magazine buyers would have first option over the online searchers.

speaking of which, the said ad came out together with the Sansui AU-70 selling for only 4.5K!!

When I called the number naka-reserve na daw  :'( ilang araw ko rin kinulit yung seller  ;D pero di umobra pangungulit ko, nabenta din dun nagpareserve. tough luck!

sorry, i beat you to it. bought it through a cellphone call last week - i'm from Davao. Narayan got it for me, will pick it up mid January and it will be part of my close to two dozen vintage amp collection. was told it's not in mint condition and exhibits channel imbalance. nice thing about it is it has a service manual available free online. i think, it needs some restoration work: recapping and valve changes and that could mean a couple of Gs more to spend. luckily, i still have about a dozen tube spares here, including ax7s.

thanks for the tip. however, the pricing is similar to my source in Cagayan de Oro for preamp valves. for the power amp section, got my valves from a warehouse staff here two years ago at P10 each. i still have to check though if they're working since they were pulled out from an old Japanese tube amp, a W-41 Trio-Kenwood i think.

congratz on the acquitision Sir Sandawa...
Better luck next time Sir Parasmi amd Sir Dennis.

Hmmm. I'ts all quiet on my homefront... I acquired a Luxman LV105 (this was also on reserve when I called up the seller but the guy, a fellow member in the forum, gave up and the unit went to me. I thought 2800 pesos for an LV105 was a good price.) and a second pair of Victor SXIII speaker.

foo,

dami mo nang na-snatch dyan ah. i'm looking at a defective Accuphase power amp here. if ever, i'll take it to Manila for repair (hindi kaya ng mga taga rito) next month. also got me a Diatone DS-73DII speakers for P5K. not a killer pair, but good enough for its price, better value i'm sure compared with new production European brand small speakers. here: http://www11.plala.or.jp/se_ke5583/DIATONE/diatoneds/ds-73dii.html

Good Luck on the Accuphase Sir Sandawa. I haven't seen one of these great amps at the pier. Would you know how the Accuphase units rate alongside the Luxmans?

i have an Accuphase E-302 (120wpc) and i'm happy about its performance despite a slight cap problem. compared with Luxman, Accuphase is a premium brand costing twice, or three times, when brand new. ito lang yata ang truly high-end brand (outside of Ongaku tube amps) recognized by audiophiles in the US and UK as comparable to their best.
