Hi Sirs,

May I ask how much this baby cost you dyan sa atin for comparison? I am here in Canada and somebody is selling his LV-105 at Php 12600. I just want to know if its worth it. I heard an LV 103U before hence I know its a sounding nice amp.

Thanks.

I had a very limited time to listen to the Technics SE-A5. Comparing it with my ST70, my initial impression is it delivers more details, especially in the mids and highs frequencies.  The bass is likewise tighter.  Maybe because of the 120 watts per channel power it packs.

However, the st70 is still "mas mataba", although the difference is that that big. The ST70, moreover, delivers a warmer sweeter sound.

I like st70 for music that are more laid back (jazz and standard), and the Technics for music that are livelier (rock and pop).  The Technics maybe more versatile.

For me it is still too early for me to tell which amp I prefer, I hope that his helps.

Gears used:

Preamp: Dynaco Pas 3 Preamp
CDP: Onkyo Liverpool (surplus)
TT:  Technics 1200 Mk 2 (courtesy of Blondie)
IC:  DIY silver interconnects
speaker cables:  Monster cables (I do not know the model)
speakers:  Boston Acoustics T830 (floorstanding)
               Monitor Audio Bronze 2

Just sharing my 1st vintage receiver somebody beat me with its 165wpc bigger brother the SX -1250 (isang araw matye-tyempuhan ko din to   :D) so I setlled for this SX-1050 which I also a good amp at 125wpc I got it from the same owner of the 1250. For the time being its replacing my surplus SA-8800II.

The price deal was ok, its the freight that kicked me extra as I have to shell approx another Php 1800. The amp is in prestine condition the RCA's at the back has no rust. The wood panels are perfect, except for the small dings at the bottom portion everything is perfect, no scratch despite the age and the glass panel is crystal clear. Heavy at 23Kgs.

The mids and highs are detailed and bass is deep considering I am only using ordinary speakers. The tone controls are my personal favorite the same feature it shares with the SA8800II you can adjust the 50Hz and 100Hz frequency for the bass and 10Khz and 20KHz for the treble.

I cant wait to open to see the innards.  ;D

Hello Dana,

Yes, although ala naman talaga surplus dito. Im using an ordinary speaker given to me by a relative dito, a bookshelf Precision Accoustic, made in China, but Im surprised maganda tumunog speakers na to.His P.A. floorstanders also rocks, I hooked it up in his Sansui 8080DB oks na oks din. Itatapon na sana daw nya kasi his not using it for a long time na and he bought it brand new daw dati kaso nung sinet-up ko and hooked it up with another vintage teac player ayaw na itapon. he he he he...sayang.... ;D

hi karipas,

nice amp you got there. hope you don't mind sharing where you got it from and how much. sana may kapatid pa yan :) kindly pm :)

i also own a couple of surplus amp. marantz pm50, onkyo a775nII and my main amp is a sony ta-f333esg. all in perfect condition. nothing beats these vintage/surplus amps in terms of value and sound. you have to shell out at least 30k on a new amp to get similar performance.

wanted to try the much hyped sansui and pioneer sound. anyone selling :)

thanks,

brubeck

Hi Brubeck,

I got it here in Canada for Php10K on the prevailing CAD to Php rate and compared to the receivers na nabenta BS section di naman masyado malayo price kaya kinuha ko na. Madami nagbebenta dito but of course di hamak na pinakamura sa surplus mall natin, too bad wala na din gano interesting dun. I visited the place before leaving last Nov maidagdag sa basura ko kaso wala na talaga.

Happy hunting on the Sansui and Pioneer. IMHO (at least on the units I have) Sansui is a warm sounding amp and Pioneer is in the bright side and I like both. Try reaching Sir Bhongskie, he sells a lot of good gears at the BS. Our friend Dana here has quite interesting vintage collections of both Sansui and Pioneer.

Thanks, kaya nga lumunok muna ako bago ko binayadan. I agree, mahirap nga maghanap sa 'tin, sabi nung seller binabaan talaga nya price by CAD100 kasi he knows shipping is costly ....di talaga maiwasan yung kati Sir, actually wifey doesn't know about it yet... ;D sana di nya makita posting ko dito. I also accidentally found another interesting item here, a Kenwood KT-8300 tuner. Owner told me that somebody reserved it 2 weeks ago kaya he faced the unit on the wall and supposed buyer was to get it today but has not heared from the guy yet. I told him by Monday if item is still in his store I'll get it, he agreed....abangan.... :D.

Hello Sir Rodel,

Meron pero bihira naghahanap din ako dati sa mall pati power amp pero I was not successful. I suggest if you want it as in right away and your budget permits get a good pre-main amp na lang. What I do is if I want more power I use the pre-amp of one of my amp then I attached it to the main-in of my more powerful amp. Suggestion lang po.

Thanks Sir, ito ang maganda after I got this unit,.....there was a guy selling his SX-1250 willing to drive near my place at reasonable price..>:(....sayang its 165wpc with 4 mug size filter caps inside about 29Kg, it's not as good as my amp in the pictures but defenitely a very mean amp.
and today I got a chance to own a Kenwood KT-8300 tuner, the owner is increasing the price apparently there is somebody buying higher (parang experience ko din sa pier pagbalik ko iba na asking price)  ;D. I told him I can buy his asking price but I am dissapointed with him because it was not our agreement then I walked away  >:(....Better luck next hunting trip na lang :D

kenwood is quite good with tuners and so is sansui. but if you can find a mcintosh tube tuner then that would be a real gem :) but also be in the lookout for dynalabs, dami yan dyan as i think it's a canadian brand?
