nani, thank you for sharing. that is what i call an AMPLIFIER, big time  :o.. you just made my day. medyo na e-excite ako kung nakakakita ako ng "hubad"  ;D
now i know what i want for christmas, may be not this chrismas  :D . a luxman perhaps  ::)
hope your tech can fix it alright..

I'm a lucky guy. I brought the AU-XII to the technician 11 a.m. yesterday but he apologized he would not be able to attend to it immediately since he still has to fix an electronic organ used by a local band. So, I said no hurry. But I need a feedback before I leave for Manila in two weeks so I could look for parts in Raon if necessary.

What do you know, I just got a text saying my AU-XII has been singing perfectly for two hours and ready for pick up. Repair charge quoted was P450 (less than $10 for foreign audio enthusiasts monitoring this thread), but I intend to give him P1K ($20).

BTW, he was telling me yesterday he has accumulated a stash of rare parts for upscale Japanese solid state amps. But he said he's not selling any, merely hedging for personal use and for future repairs. I believe him since he's the amp specialist for the biggest importer of Japanese hifi here in Davao.

Thanks, problem is I bought two extension cords from CDR-King (P180 each?) last week, one I hooked to a 1,500-watt 100V transformer and another to 220V line in my living room. I forgot to put labels and accidentally plugged the AU-XII to the 220V line the other night. Then, "pop" it goes with white smoke coming out of the back grill. The smell was almost unbearable. Anyway it took just a couple of seconds since I was able to switch off the extension cord immediately.

Hi Sir Sandawa,

Glad to hear that your AU-X11 is working again.
Those top Sansui models are becoming rare/hard
to find, they should be heard and appreciated all
the more.
Btw, i'm looking for an Integra P-309 pre amp,
baka may maligaw dyan sir...
Please inform me.
TIA! :)

All the others were bought from P1.5K to P2k.

Don,

Totoo yang sinabi mo at mabuti binanggit mo yan.

Hi sandawa
you're lucky, in the au x11 has not been much damage that your repair has been good, in a more spare parts for personal use, we must keep and do not hesitate to reward for good his work because you have a repairer gold ;D

congrats....

we had the same problem in our plant before where we had this assortment of 220 and 110volts equipments...accidents did happen very often.........so we came up with the following solutions. :)

1. installed 120/130 volt mov's after the fuse on equipment rated for 110 volts.
2. replaced the outlets and plugs for 110 volt equipment to a different type so that plugging in equipment on a wrong voltage is not possible.

this is applicable on the home setting also...

Good thing you mentioned this since this is an effective solution for those with a lot of Jap hifi equipment. Actually, I grew up with dual 220/110v outlets in Manila and also had it installed here in Davao (in my home which is 8 kms away from central business district). However, I now live in a rented apartment downtown and that's the problem. No 110v outlets.

The way we did it at home was 220v pairs of flat holes on the left and right sides of the plate and a pair of round holes for the outlet in between. That way, no chance of costly mistakes since all 200v appliances would have flat prongs and 110v would have round prongs. I'll probably install external tubes for 110v outlets in the next few days. Or, I'll spray red paint on all my 100v extension cords just to make sure I won't repeat the same mistake.

sorry for the OT....what happened there was that you smoked the MOV's inside the PSU....MOV's are installed in shunt each with the two main filter caps, it was designed that way so that in case of such accidents, there would be smaller bang, the mov's are small and fries as an open circuit as opposed to other semicons which fries as a short in most cases...

so the next time that scenario happens in that psu, expect a louder bang!!!!

Hi Tony,

Indeed, the Pioneer Spec 1 and Spec 2 are awesome pre power amp combination.
Would you believe that we have spotted these legendary Pioneer models just
collecting dusts at a house and we've learned that the owner died years ago!
But! but! The widow won't let go of it for "sentimental reasons"!
It is complete with its matching tuner, tape deck, open reel tape deck, turntable,
and maybe an HPM speakers!
We've offered monetary considerations, but to no avail....
We had a drink or two of my audio buddies dahil sa panghihinayang....
Well, that's life! Sometimes luck just comes along, sometimes not.

to the proud owner of the onkyo m509... congrats..
Was that your group waiting while a technician was soldering something in the amp? Maybe not. i think the group i saw at the store was trying to convince the seller to sell the amp to them but the seller stuck to his guns saying that he is already talking to somebody. i may be wrong though.

But that that amp is an eyecatcher.... those meters really looks so MACHO!!!

Sir Sandawa... congrats thin on the successful repair of your auxii.

and YES.. those SPECS 1, 2, 3 AND 4 are amps to die for. :)
I wonder... was the owner a member of PinoyDVD? You have to try and visit widow again and again. lol... sabi nga nila...walang matimtimang birhen sa matiyagang manalangin...

 Thank you Sir Lord Foo,

Yes it was us waiting for the M-509 to be fixed, luckily the problem was just the relay. The seller gave the amp
to us for the reason that the original buyer was not responding to his messages and calls.
Been using it everyday since, the amp works flawlessly, thank God!
Yes, the huge VU meters are fantastic!

About the Specs, the owner was not a member of PDVD...
It was bought brand new during the Specs heydey! Btw, it is housed in original
Pioneer rack complete with its matching audio equipment!
It was just sleeping there for years now.

Yes bro, I seen your Onkyo pre amp including your M509. Yup those speakers had been there for quite sometime now, not sure if its a denon or a sony.

What I got, dont know if you've seen it when you went there, are the Huge Yamaha Vintage Speakers.

What I got, dont know if you've seen it when you went there, are the Huge Yamaha Vintage Speakers.

 Hi Bro,

Yes! yes! Those vintage Yamaha speakers! I've seen it the day i bought the M-509.
But when i return for the pre amp, it was very noticeably missing!
Those are indeed vintage looking, i must admit, i was tempted to have it tested, but,
even if it impresses me, i don't have the space for it. As it is indeed huge!
