Happiest about the Ray Allen news? Dwyane Wade. Won't have to chase him around the court anymore.

FUNNY. :) but true. ^_^

AY alam nyo na na totoo na noh? Ray is with us?

Pat Riley just knows the right buttons to push during recruitment ...... also helps to have the backdrop of the beach to sell to free-agents.

If Riley can convince Rashard Lewis to sign for the vet-minimum ...... the rich get richer indeed.

and/or Marcus Camby. it's either the Heat, Knicks, or San Antonio for him.

i think Dallas is in the mix too.

A still very serviceable Camby signing for the vet-minimum should be a stretch ..... but with Pat Riley making the sales pitch, anything is possible.

I just realized that the HEAT now have Ray Allen, Mike Miller & James Jones on that bench ...... all they need now is Steve Novak and it will be a party.   ;)

Allen is bad news for Heat haters.   I think we're seeing a dynasty here with Miami winning 1 or 2 more championships with a healthy Ray.  Bulls 90s.  Lakers 2000-2010.  Now the Heat is gonna rack up in the 21st century.

But imagine all the open jumpers Allen will see in that offense. Remember Miller and Battier's 3-point clinic in the NBA Finals? That all happened with LeBron James playing on the block and feeding his shooters once the defense was forced to collapse on the improved post player. If the Heat are serious about playing small ball, there's no reason why Allen won't be the recipient of those bullet passes in Miami. When the Heat have 3-point shooters flanking the Big Three, the long-feared pick-your-poison offense comes to life.

---------------

Still, the Heat's offense should be a terror to guard if Allen is healthy (which is a huge "if" at this point of his career). That's especially true if he plays in an unconventional lineup with Battier and the Big Three, where there would be no traditional point guard or center. The four-player combination of Battier, Bosh, James and Wade scored 115 points per 100 possessions in the playoffs. The average team in the postseason? About 99 points per 100 possessions. Add Allen's 3-point exploits to that equation, and the Heat's side of the scoreboard might look like an odometer on fast forward.

The Heat are getting older quickly, but that's the gamble they made when they locked up so much money in three players roughly in their prime. And if Allen and the rest of the core can stay healthy in their later years, LeBron's infamous dynasty proclamation may not be too far off.

True. And that's one of the risks in getting Howard. Him bolting out of your franchise leaving it void of talent for the next couple of years because you traded your best assets for him.

Bynum is also a big risk when it comes to his health, just check out his knees.

and they're both immature. ;D

Bynum has an advantage on low post offense and is better on FT% but D12 takes the cake on defense.

Rashard Lewis

Quote
The agent for free agent small forward Rashard Lewis, Tony Dutt, confirmed reports that Lewis is scheduled to visit Miami on Sunday, and the Heat appear to have as good a chance as anybody to land the 32-year-old, two-time All-Star who has averaged 16.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in his 14-year career. Dutt said Lewis, who was traded from Washington to New Orleans on June 20 and bought out by the Hornets on June 30, may also visit Atlanta and New York. San Antonio is also believed to be in the mix as well.

Marcus Camby

Quote
Miami is also pursuing free agent center Marcus Camby, though an ESPN.com report on Saturday indicated that he is more likely to sign with New York because of his salary expectations. Camby, according to the report, wants a multi-year deal and minimum salary of $3 million that would only be attainable through a sign-and-trade with Camby's former team, Houston. According to the report, the Rockets are interested in a sign-and-trade with the Knicks but not the Heat.

Numerous reports indicated Camby postponed a visit with Miami and will visit with the Knicks on Sunday. According to CBSSports.com, the Nets are pursuing Camby as well. Camby could only join the Heat on a veteran's minimum deal unless there was a sign-and-trade.

Thanks sir! How about for cases like Jeremy Lin or Eric Gordon. If another team offers a contract, their current team can match that, and if they did, no choice yun player but to still play with their current team? So if Houston offers $28mil for Jeremy, and NY does the same, he'll still be signing for NY?

If their mother team matches the other team's contract ..... they're obligated to play for their mother team.

In Gordon's case however, he's mouthing off to the media that he doesn't want to play for the HORNETS should they match (and they will) ...... worse case, the HORNETS might initiate a sign-and-trade rather than hire a disgruntled player or lose someone without anything in exchange.

Now this is mildly disturbing ..... for a 4-year player to mouth-off like this:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--kevin-love-losing-patience-with-timberwolves--losing.html

Kevin Love is one of the league's best PF ..... however, it wasn't too long ago that he was drafted and it was just a few months ago that he signed his near-max contract extension.

IMO he's way too young, hasn't played enough 'meaningful' games and hasn't carried his team long enough to call-out his management team like this.

for me, there's nothing wrong with what Kevin Love said.. the only reason he hasn't played enough "meaningful" games is because he's playing for the Wolves.. since losing Garnett, the Wolves have done nothing to get back into contention..

Love has worked hard to make himself the Wolves' franchise player and they didn't even give him a max contract.. the guy plays his heart out every game.. since his rookie year, he has vastly improved his post moves.. he extended his range and he battles for rebounds like a man possessed.. he became an All-Star all on his own and has made 2 US national teams already.. but because the Wolves front office hasn't worked hard enough, he has yet to play a playoff game..

Rose, Beasley, Mayo and Westbrook were his batch mates picked ahead of him.. they've all played in the playoffs.. Gallinari, Hibbert, McGee, George Hill, Ibaka, Chalmers are some of his batch mates picked after him who've already played in the playoffs.. Love is better than most of those guys.. he deserves to be in a playoff contender.. he let his game speak for him but the Wolves didn't notice.. maybe spelling it out might..

well he isn't yapping about a bigger contract. he actually said he was happy with the contract and where he is at the moment. he is unhappy that the management seems to be doing nothing to acquire players that can help them be competitive. Love is a hard worker and he's no diva either. so he deserves to get paid equal to the effort he puts out on the court. it's just unfair to expect him to win without the right players to back him up
