There are also reports that, after freeing up the PG position for George Hill, Indiana is still looking to add DJ Augustin via a trade from Charlotte.

di ba Collison is better than Augustin?

I prefer collison because Augustin is injury prone, better player? I think si augustine  because he is a better passer but all-in-all by a small margin lang..  and maybe Pacers was really targeting mahimi kaya they gave up Collison..  Anyway they already G.Hill, who can score, maybe they want someone who can dish naman, or maybe who can compete for the starting PG..  :)

The Pats way...

Collison is better than Augustin ..... the PACERS are likely banking on the continued emergence of George Hill, who'll be their lead PG.

============================================================================

Kinda surprised that the MAVS let Ian Mahinmi go ..... he looked like a keeper for the team - tall yet very agile, plays a mature game as well.

It's very obvious that the MAVS are preserving salary cap space for the 2013 batch of free-agents ...... all their recent hires are 1-year rentals, plus Marion's on the last year of his contract as well.

They're hoping to land 1-2 of the big free-agents next offseason e.g. Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum, Josh Smith, Monta Ellis, etc.

and in the process, kicking dirt on Dirk's face by not giving him the chance to contend for 2 years before he gets old.

which begs the question on why players should have loyalty to their team when the team isn't loyal to them.

The MAVS not re-signing Tyson Chandler & JJ Barea (and Caron Butler) the last offseason, played a huge part in them being short-handed in defending their crown ...... they basically lost their defensive anchor and lost their best change-of-pace guy.

However, to be fair to Mark Cuban ...... re-signing Chandler & Barea would mean over-paying them - thus leaving the MAVS without much cap flexibility for the next few years, that comes with being on the wrong side of oppressive luxury tax bracket.

Also, Cuban did had a decent contingency/replacement plan in Lamar Odom ...... since Odom just came off a fantastic 2010-2011 season being named the top 6th man.

Of course, nobody foresaw Odom acting and playing like a lost child for the MAVS ..... should Odom have played his usual self last season, I'm sure that the MAVS would have gotten a more favorable seeding and would have fared much better during the playoffs.

==============================================================================

Mark Cuban's gamble on Odom failed ...... but it was a decent gamble at the time - who wouldn't want to have the reigning 6th man of the year on their squad?

His gamble on creating cap-space for Deron Williams also failed ...... but many other teams would have wanted to be in their solid position of landing Williams right?

Besides, it's cap space that wont go anywhere and can still be used for the 2013 batch of top free-agents ..... they now the flexibility to hire 1-2 (maybe a 3rd upper-tier player) top players after this upcoming season e.g. Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum, etc.

Time for me to cheer the Lakers for next season. I want Nash to win his ring and can't wait to see a televised game and finally, we may get to see the ball more on the point guard's hands rather than Kobe's :)

They still need somebody to guard Westbrook!

I think a lot of fans are still wearing blinders when it comes to the Dream Team. I will be the first to admit that the 1992 team was legendary or of mythic status in the world of sports. But come on. It's just plain arrogance if they think their generation of hall of famers are untouchable. I reckon they've never played with the freaks of nature like LBJ, Westbrook, Rose et al. They are the epitome of athleticism the same way His Airness was during his time.

Obviously, Jordan and Barkley chimed in coz of pride and we can't blame them for it. But look at what they went up against in Barcelona and the opposition Team USA have faced for the past 10 years. It's leagues apart in terms of competition.

But the issue is whether this USA team can beat the Dream Team (yes, there is only one Dream Team). As a fan and observer of the game, I believe Kobe and co. can challenge them, but I'd still put my money on the Dream Team.  ;)

how the hell could kobe call them old and at the tail end of their careers? they were all in their prime well except for magic and bird. and kobe is 34 right now which makes him actually older than those guys were. the dream team can play team offense and can lock down on defense. the dream team is more fundamentally sound and they knew how to win. athleticism isn't the only gauge for a player or a team to succeed. stockton isn't the most athletic player in the NBA but he knew how to play the game (all time leader in steals and assists). even the 1992 version of magic johnson was still a force to reckon with. lebron james, kobe bryant and kevin durrant has been stopped on offense in their prime, can the same be said with MJ?

Michael Jordan dropped 35 on James "Robert Horry" Posey (Houston Rockets) like what Avery Johnson likes to call him; 35 on Kevin Garnett (Minnesota Timberwolves) & KG was guarding him!; 43 on Richard Jefferson & Kenyon Martin (New Jersey Nets); 41 on Shawn Marion (Phonex Suns) & made the game winning shot on him; 32 on Tracy McGrady (Orlando Magic) & 32 pts on Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics).

this was during the 2002-2003 season and waaay beyond his prime. kobe should stop trying to top MJ and these kids should start showing some respect

Delusional.   ;D  The Dream Team has the smarts to offset what is said to be (arguably) the more athletic team in the current Olympic Team.

The Dream Team version of MJ, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Robinson, Ewing, Pippen, Drexler.... were all still in their prime and can compete in today's soft/touch-fouls NBA game.

Larry Bird was probably at the end of his career then but can still thrive.  Magic likewise.

I believe MJ can stop Kobe with his always questionable shot selection and Pippen can effectively limit Lebron.  Pippen might not have the strength.  But he can stick to Lebron like glue and has quick hands.

With today's touch-fouls/no hand check rule, MJ & Barkley alone will have a field day on the stripe!

Please. MJ and company didn't face the freaks of nature we call players now in the world of basketball. Kobe's the only one with balls big enough to challenge the Dram Team myth. The only advantage the old timers have is that they are mentally tough compared to the players of today.

^ My vote is still Dream Team 1992 though.

Mental toughness and non-bonehead moves is their advantage.

My question is, will Harden FLOP around? Ugh... *cringe*

I side on what Barkley said on this one.

isang malaking check jan sir!

They only look like "freaks of nature" because of today's soft play. Put them in an 80s style of game and they'll look "normal". Athleticism is nice to have but is not a requirement in basketball. Bird's layup is worth as much as Lebron's tomahawk.

That is where I beg to differ. Yesterday's thug defense is by no means "defense" like the way these young kids play it. They have better footwork, speed and mobility now than years ago. You can only go so far with the pushing and hard fouls.
