ano, talagang magic naman ang peg niya? sana maging consistent muna siya sa jumpshots and free throws and also add more post moves. tsss

I hate to say that the evolution of basketball nowadays has taken away the POST MOVES which we usually see before.
I used admire Kevin Mchale playing the post coz its more natural and easier to practice compared to the SKY HOOK of Jabbar.

Gee yoU aRe yoU!

nchale and jabbar have very different post moves. mchale has a thousand and one moves to get away from his defender while everyone knows kareem will throw a skyhook every chance he gets. and yet both are extremely effective post players.

Well for Lakers management, stick to what works.  Pirate franchise players from other teams via trade or FA signing and produce a title..... Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Gasol....maybe Dwight(?).

You can't argue with that philosophy.  Last player that brought a title to the Lakers that is homegrown is however the greatest point guard of all time!

the sky hook IS a post move. the video posted shows LBJ practicing sky hooks and did not say he stopped practicing his jump shot, free throws, etc.

Only a handful of players managed to block the sky hook of Jabbar. Of the very few times that it was blocked it came from the primary defender who is an athletic freak. It's hard to defend because Jabbar camps near the baseline and his turn is towards the baseline so a double team is next to impossible unless the 2nd player who is tasked to double comes from the baseline. If he does so his man will just simply waltz towards the basket which surely Kareem will spot since he is a very good passer as well.

I forget who it was but i think it was sports writer Kevin Iole who compared KAJ's skyhook to Dirk Nowitzki's Fadeaway shot, it was so hard to block that you will really need a second defender or a very tall/athletic primary defender to even alter the shot.

hahaha. that much hype over ONE skyhook? there's so much room to improve his current game further before adding another half baked move. GO HEAT!  ;D

There was only one-time Kareem was sort of blocked using his skyhook. Robert Parish stripped the ball from Kareem while gathering for the skyhook, and not at the peak of the ball's release. Too bad nobody else had the same go-to move after Kareem.

Yup. Unfortunately his three point shot is more accurate than his hook. What I remember from Manute was when he was paired with Bogues one time in Washingon. Technically they had the tallest and shortest player in the league. It was like a freak show in a circus.

They actually had a top of the key play where Mugsy dribbles around Manute, then drives through his legs. A circus indeed!

Howard 19 points 12 rebounds, 4 blocks on his first game as a Laker but Lakers lost to the Kings.  It's the 2nd unit of the Lakers that's kinda questionable.  Lakers are on their way to sweep the preseason games with consecutive losses ;)  They're the only team now that hasn't won a preseason game.  Or is this another one of those Lakers' hollywood stories???

Yes agree. Clearly, Nash is still feeling his way in.  Naninibago yata sya na mga superstar kasama nya.  It's the reserves that need to click.  Except for Jamison, parang manipis ang second unit ng El Ey.   I hope they jell fast because if this will be how they play, they will be bamboozled by Miami and OKC!!

If that was already the season lineup, i think they are 7 deep at the most with a questionable bigman backup in Sacre.   Ebanks and Meeks lang ang nakita kong decent.  Injured ba si jordan hill?

3. Harden
4. Joe Johnson
5. Iggy
6. Manu
7. E. Gordon
8. M. Ellis
9. P. George
10. Ray Allen/Tony Allen

I agree at this point ;) sa 1 and 2, pero interchangeable yan and Joe Johnson and Manu should trade places. and Harden?

yep. the heat is pretty much one cohesive unit with lebron's strengths maximized during last season's finals series. pressure will be on them to repeat though, so people will be looking closer if lebron can continue to play on that level while critics (like me) will be wanting to see more from him.

ang OKC naman will come out hopefully with a vengeance. hungrier and blood thirsty to take it all the way. pero siyempre knowing kobe's competitive nature magiging bugbugan ang coming season for sure
