yeah, they shot better but the Spurs had 16 more attempts than them and made 4 more field goals.. and even though they rebounded the ball better, they also turned the ball over 17 times compared to the Spurs' 8.. so that right there offsets the Lakers' rebounding advantage.. and though they shot more FTs, they're a terrible FT shooting team..

The 16 more attempts and 4 more FGs most likely had been the result of turning the ball over. The Spurs victory had to be justified somehow. It's not like the Spurs won because they generally played better. Accross the stats indicate Lakers should have won.

its a very close game and the spurs won by only 2 because of the last shot by green. lakers could have won if that shot didn't go in. but its still a loss though

the Lakers' advantage on the stats isn't really that overwhelming.. shooting 3% better than your opponent doesn't mean you played better.. and having more rebounds doesn't mean you played better defense.. it's all in the execution.. the Spurs executed better than the Lakers both offensively and defensively.. they didn't shoot better but they got the shots they wanted.. they were out-rebounded but on the moments that mattered, they secured the ball..

actually, across the stats, the Spurs played better.. sa rebounds at FTs taken lang naman talaga lamang ang Lakers.. if you look at the whole stats, you'll know that the Spurs had better execution than the Lakers.. sa FG, you'll see that the Spurs took and made more higher percentage shots than the Lakers.. they were 19/45 (38pts) inside the paint compared to 13/32 (26pts) from the Lakers.. the Spurs also had more opportunities on the break going 6/10 for 13 FB points to the Lakers' 2/4 for 6 FB points.. they also had 4 more assists, 8 more steals, 9 less TOs, 6 more TO pts and 1 more 3pt shot made..

with those kind of numbers, the Lakers should have lost by more than 2pts..

Shooting 3% better is still 3% better though.  Yes it doesn't translate the Lakers played better.  But what it does say the Spurs shot worse.  Lakers had the advantage in FG%,  FTA & made, blocks, offensive and defensive rebounds. The Lakers rebound advantage is 10 which is a big disparity controlling both the offensive and defensive rebounds.   Spurs may have shot a higher percentage in the paint but was offset by poor perimeter game so it came down to about 39% FG.   The Spurs having more fastbreak points, steals were related to having more turnovers for LA.  In essence, the Lakers let the Spurs take the game.  Lakers like I said doubled their FTA 22-11 making 14 of them.  That gives them a 7pt cushion vs the Spurs.

My take would be the Spurs having a sub-par shooting game, being outrebounded both offensively and defensively, shot a lot less FTs..... stole the game from the Lakers.

Nice read. I agree ;)

Lakers need D'Antoni to act as caretaker, not as some sort of genius coach

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/20975106/lakers-need-dantoni-to-act-as-caretaker-not-as-some-sort-of-genius-coach

"The Lakers don't need a coach. They need a sports psychologist." ...

"Mike Brown is a conventional coach, the kind of guy who will spend hours breaking down tape because he thinks the secret to beating another team is somewhere inside his own head -- not within the 40-inch vertical leap of freak center Dwight Howard or the supernatural scoring ability of Kobe Bryant. Brown thought he was more important than he is. He thought being a coach mattered, when it doesn't. Not to a team as talented and experienced as the Lakers".

This is a loss I could take.   The only things thats not good in this loss are the TOs.  Then again, both their PGs are out.  Kobe playing so far the most efficient season in his carreer.  Good misdirection play on that Green 3 by GP.   Metta and pau both had clean looks, but couldnt sink game winners.  All good despite the loss.

Lets not over analyze a regular season game. If any, that's just a gauge on how LA is adjusting to the season. And folks, this is basketball, bilog ang bola and all that $hit, are we really surprised with outcomes like this? One team can shoot a high percentage and yet their opponent hangs around until the game is decided in the last second is hardly improbable but nonetheless surprising.

Ala pa si Mike D'Antoni.  Sa Sunday game pa ng Lakers magpapakita yata.  Oh yes, the rotation of the Lakers is way better than it was with Mike Brown.  Does the Lakers have a chance is like asking kung sasapit ba ang Pasko.  SYEMPRE!

Si bernie bickerstaff pa rin ang nagcoach.  Actually he did a good job.  Simplifying things. Much better than what MB has done. I think mike d antoni will coach the next game.

Anyway, lakas ng Memphis ah. Or humina lang talaga siguro OKC after they lost Harden?

Yes they do. Crawford is the solid addition to their bench. Top scorer with 22 points off the bench. Si Lamar 18minutes of PT zero attempts zero points. Wala pa talaga sa sarili.

Bobcats have a  better record than 16 other teams, including contenders!  If the playoffs will start now, then Charlotte is IN at #8.  Thing is, it's a lifetime till April 2013.  Charlotte needs a stem celled Jordan, make that 2 young Jordans, to even have a glimmer of chance of making it to the playoffs.  Lakers simply need to jell and remain healthy to make it to the Finals ;D

i wonder what really happened to odom after LA. parang nawalan na siya ng gana maglaro. sana pwede pa siya kunin ng LA para sa bench nila.
