Ganda bukas nito sa NBA HD ;D  Doubleheader. Yeah.

I'm going for Miami as I want them to sweep the remaining games for a never been done before Sweep 16.  Let's go for another run with history LBJ ;D

And a GSW Upset over SAS.

last time... na sweep ng Dallas ang Lakers... nagharap sa Finals ang Dallas at Heat... natalo ang Heat...
baka iyon din ang mangyari ngayong playoffs at finals... umabot sa Finals ang spurs at heat... boom... okay lang basta panalo si Coach Spo as coach of the year...

Lebron would rather be with his teammates than to receive the 4th MVP award.

“You guys saw me sitting in this chair and I kept looking over at them,” James said, standing behind a podium. “It’s because I’d rather be sitting there with them. I know this is an individual award, but I would much rather be sitting over there in shorts and a T-shirt, wondering what the hell they’re joking about, because I want to be a part of that joke and I hate being out on all the jokes....I would much rather be over there with my guys, because that’s what it’s all about."

I've been telling my son (who's a varsity player at Grade 6) to maybe reconsider having Kobe as his idol and "role model" and look up to Lebron as the ultimate TEAM PLAYER.  Because that's what basketball is all about -- Team.  I hope he listens to me ;D

Congrats to Lebron for his 4th MVP.  Speaking of 4th MVP, si Russell pala also has 4 MVPs.  Now how can you defeat a 4 time MVP and 11 rings!

Russell has 5 MVPs di ba?  Same as Jordan.  Jordan/Russell = 5, Jabbar 6, Wilt Chamberlain 4.

Lebron joins Russell though as the only 2 players with 4 MVPs in a 5 year span.

And if we consider their team's championship on the same year they won MVP, only Jordan and Russell have achieved to help their team win a ring the same year they won MVP three times (3X).  Kareem and Wilt each won just ONE NBA title during their first 4 MVP seasons.  MJ  and Russell each won 3 titles.  So if LeBron wins his 2nd title this season, that will put him closer again to the greatness of Jordan and Wilt.

But yeah, the 11 rings would be hard to top.  But Lebron's "only" 28 and still peaking so sans a major injury, who knows what he might still accomplish in the years to come.

Upon researching 5 time nga....I actually didn't know that.  Ang lagi kasi mention sa kanya is 11 time champion.  I was pleasantly surprised.

I'd like to ask because I don't know and I'm curious - Was Bill Russell dominant during his last few championship rings?  O baka naman parang si Robert Parish yan ng Bulls or Juwan Howard ng Miami Heat?  Haven't researched and you guys might know the answer ;D

I wasn't born yet then.  All I saw were highlight plays and read write ups.  I actually didn't even know Russell was a 5 time MVP.  I had the impression he had 1 or maybe 2.

Oo nga naman sorry, bata pa naman tayo (my bad).  Anyway I asked an oldie and he said Russell was still a factor until his 11th ring.  In his latter years, he shone more on defense rather than offense.  So di naman sya "has been" when he retired.  More like a Jabbar.  A leftie, he played like a Kevin Garnett only taller.

Not really.  In the eyes of many, si Jordan pa rin.

"With all of the accolades, the Professional Basketball Writers Association of America declared Bill Russell to be the “Greatest Player in the History of the NBA” in 1980. While most people believe that Michael Jordan has since taken the title of “Greatest of All-Time”, many still regard Bill Russell as both the second best player of all-time and the greatest center ever."

Taken from basketball reference.com

Well we could say that scoring isn't really the guy's priority since there are other Celtics who are tasked in doing that. rebounding, shot blocking and defense is the guy's forte. Look at his last year in the NBA...he averaged almost 20 rebounds per game. He just takes 8 FGA per game hence the paltry 9.9 PPG. The block stats are blank because it wasn't even recorded yet as a stat in the NBA but many believe he will easily average between 8 to 10 per game. Throw in 5 assists per game as well.

He played 42 minutes average per game in his last year...wow

...NYK, history wise, mukhang may omen:

Quote
The New York Knicks have never won a playoff series after losing Game 1 at home -- they're 0-5 in those series. Coincidentally, the last time they lost a Game 1 at home was also against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals -- in 1995.

He was recently interviewed who he thinks is better, Russell, Lebron or MJ?  His response - "I don't engage in such talk about pitting players from different eras.  Because I don't play with ghosts. Me?  I always compete with the guy who shows up in the hardcourt."  Prodded to name his GOAT, he said :  "Russell of course.  Because the way I play, I always win."  'NUFF SAID.  IDOL!!!!

Here's the full interview w Chris Webber :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krfhx32258Y

And he is just ..... 6'9". Same as Lebron.

Eto mabigat sa resume nya...13 years played in the NBA and he accomplishes this:

11 out of 13 ain't bad huh? Lebron is what? 9th year in the league? And 1 ring. Nuff said

Jordan only had 1 hall of famer as a teammate then.

Bill Russell had all-time greats on his team on his 1st year.

And, arguably, the best coach of all time.

But still it's hard to ignore Russell's accomplishments.  He's got more rings than fingers.  You he's got 5 MVPs.  Parang si Mayweather.... even if namimili siya ng kalaban, like him or not......you can't ignore his undefeated record.
