Si Reggie Miller ba 'yung commentator kanina, well anyway, sabi nya, sana daw nag foul na 'yung Heat noong nasa kamay ni West 'yung bola and send him to the line, with only 2 secs remaining in the 4th qrt, bago naipasa kay George who made the tres to send the game into OT. I think Reggie has a point.

Meron pa rin kasi 2 schools of thought til now on how to handle the situation.  Yun foul nga or let them heave a difficult 3.  Kung pumasok, eh it was really meant to be.   ;D

For me, no foul...let the time expire. D lang talaga.  With a foul, you stop the game clock.

Somehow that 3pt shot that sent the game to OT was LBJ fault, that was shot right in front of him, hindi din nya gaano na-depensahan. Buti na lang nakabawi sya.

^ Spo was asked about that dati, sabi lang niya, that's not the HEAT style.

Anyway different situation siguro pero baka ganyan din ang mentality ng Heat.

Marami kasi pwedeng mangyari pag nagfoul ka. You're letting the opposing team score with the clock stopped.  Pwede pasok yun una mintis yun 2nd intentionally then baka ma putback. Or miss both then offensive rebound then tres.  As long as there's time on the clock, anything can happen.  Heat are a very good defensive team. So let their defense dictate their fate.  And not depend on what the other team does by fouling them.

question lang..

dying seconds.. nag for the win ka via layup/dunk.. is that considered 'clutch'?

kasi para sa akin clutch is from outside.. eg. robert horry, derek fisher, kobe, parker, manu...and of course jordan..

pero to call lebron clutch.. parang off..

i dont hate him.. i have his shoes.. and skill wise, mahusay talaga..

pero.. parang mas ok na tawagin  ang clutch players are the ones who makes baskets from afar..

not layups..

sure, same 2 points.. and same win.. pero parang dapat mas may degree muna of range bago tawagin 'clutch'?

or not? please expound?

btw congrats miami..

When someone scores on a game winning layup, that's actually a choke on the defense of the other team.  When you're up 1 with 2 seconds to go, you can't give your opponent a decent look from 18 feet to win. You force them to take difficult shots ( think defense on Jordan by the Cavs, Utah, etc ).   How much more an easy layup to the rim?  That's a major defensive choke from Indiana.

That's why most clutch shots are done from the outside, because the defense forces them to do so.

Actually, sabi ni Coach Spo the play was simple = give the ball to the best player and let him do the right play.  Remember, Lebron was 20 feet from the basket with 2.2 seconds to go.  Given Lebron's high basketball IQ he would almost always pull off the right thing.  He saw the collapse immediately.  George overplayed.  Sam Young was either stunned or stupid not to help.  He didn't even foul.  Lebron saw a clear path to the basket.  Best player in the world knew what to do.  Bang!

Miami's defense on that particular play was the result of that open tres by George. LBJ actually gave an open look to the opponent, he didn't even bother to jump. Good thing they got the "W" in OT. Coach Spo and LBJ redeem themselves in the end.  :)

meron pa rin naman siguro but not this time. Lebron will always make the correct play whether or not the shot goes in.

Watched the game again.  Great shot talaga by George to tie the game.  Kakatawa mga mukha ng Miami Heat fans ;D

Why was Hibbert taken out by Vogel?  Lebron James final 4 points were layups.  Hibbert would have prevented those shots.  Why was he taken out pala?

Even if Hibbert was in the game, he wouldnt have made a difference with the kind of play that Spo set up for Miami. Man to man yun and spread out shooters ng Heat with Allen as the main decoy. Hibbert would have been far from Lebron and would be too late in his help defense.

I was also taken aback by this move by Vogel. Maybe because of his 5 fouls? Maybe they wanted to match man for man? It was his call, the Pacers have to live with it & move on to game 2.

hmmm...

re clutch and choke...

if lebron took that last shot from outside... and missed... he wouldve been a 'choker'? or clutch parin sya kasi he had the balls the shoot the ball for the win.. but missed?

now if the missed that layup.. he is a choker na agad diba? or clitch parin for having the balls to make that final play?

now if that jordan who threw that shot and missed? would he be labeled as choker?

or if it was jordan who drove to the basket and made a layup.. clutch parin ba?

I've mentioned this before.  More of a body of work when you label a player a choker.  Even clutch players miss.  Sometimes they miss more than they make.  One shot doesn't necessarily mean a player is a choker.  Even one playoff series doesn't make a player a choker.  Lebron earned the choker tag after years of playing in Cleveland and a year in Miami.  But the past couple of seasons, he seems to not shy away anymore from crucial plays and made game winning shots/plays.

Even Dirk Nowitzki was labeled as a choker for years including vwhen Dallas lost to the Heat in the finals up until the Mavs as a number 1 seed lost in the first round to the Warriors  But starting their championship run, Dirk has delivered and erased that choker reputation.
