^ actually, both sides daw natawagan ng mga dubious calls according to friends who watched the game. Spo gets a little blame din daw for matching Vogel's rotations. Kumbaga, yung Heat ang nag-adjust for the Pacers.

anyway, here's an interesting read about Playoffs flopping:

exactly. very frustrating. He is already very gifted with basketball talents. Kaya nyang dumipensa ng one-on-one without resorting to cheap flop tricks.

I agree, mahirap talaga. Pero nirereview naman yan ng NBA e. Pero sana lakihan nila fine for players na high salary. Sa mga may 10million and above salary, dapat $30,000 minimum penalty. Tapos lower for lower paid players.

Panget kasi sa game if Wade, Bosh and Lebron are flopping all the time. Di naman 'to soccer.

pwede silang action star ah  >:D

Yung tumira siya from near half court to win(or tie ba?) the game.

Reggie Miller said it best (either the best or the worst authority, depending on your stand on things) ...... when a player has the ability to sell it well to the zebras, he gets "rewarded" with the call.

In a way, he is right as flopping is almost inherent to most sports with limited contact rules e.g. soccer, etc ...... to police/judge flopping as it happens, should be one of the most difficult tasks a ref should handle ....... things happen in real-time, really fast.

IMO the NBA has done the next best thing, by reviewing afterwards and penalizing floppers.

Hopefully, within the next few seasons, the refs will get to be part of the flopping review/replays and make better judgement calls during actual flopping scenarios.

=============================================================================

Mabuti wala sa NBA yung katulad ni Ronald Tubid ....... mag-flop (parang nabaril) after minimal contact, then ngingiti, then fist-pump, then palakpak.  ;D

Yung kay Tubid meron close enough similar instance. I think it was Lebron's flop sa pagsundot ni D.Rose ng bola from him. Tinawagan yata si Rose tapos afterwards, nagwink si Lebron sakanya. (someone can correct me on this. might have been someone else pero sure ako si Lebron yun isa. haha)

Di maiiwasan yun pero yung simpleng kahit zero contact (see gifs of Bosh and Wade) dapat talaga suspended or major fine. haha

Flopping is cheating, imo. It's like you're conning the referee to give you a favorable call. Just sad na yung big 3 pa ng Heat yung madalas gumawa nun.

IMO it's quite different bro ...... winking to an opponent is a very discrete way to tell him "naisahan kita" or "nakaisa ako".

After his horrendous flops, Ronald Tubid will actually break out in a wide smile, do some fist-pumps, clap hard and high-five his teammates ...... for EVERYONE to see.  ;D

Like I said, flopping is inherent to most sports with limited contact rules ...... technically, it's not cheating as you didn't break any in-game rules.

Competitors will do what they can, within the bounds of the rules, to win the game.

If you sell it well, you will get the call ....... it's up to the refs to judge things correctly.

Like I said, hopefully the refs will learn from all the review tapes that the NBA office has accumulated ..... make better judgement calls down the road.

Very blatant nga naman yun. Subtle lang yung wink sa kalaban. hehe

:D

pangit din naman kasi if one day, yung fate ng isang game eh nadecide on a flop made by a player. Sana kahit sa last two minutes they take time to review the foul and if flopping, tawagan and ipenalize yung nagflop. That would definitely discourage flopping. kasi instead of flopping benefiting the flopper,it will penalize his team instead. haha

that would be a great day for basketball. :D

Quote
5/24/13
The NBA fined Tony Allen (Mem) $5,000 for his flop in Tuesday's Mem-SA
game 2.

5/10/13
The NBA fined J.R. Smith (NY) $5,000 for his flop during Sunday's Ind-NY
game.

5/6/13
The NBA fined Derek Fisher (OKC) $5,000 for his flop during during
Wednesday's OKC-Hou Game 5.

5/5/13
The NBA fined Jeff Pendergraph (Ind) $5,000 for his flop during
Wednesday's Atl-Ind game

3/29/13
The NBA fined Omer Asik (Hou) $5,000 for his 2nd flopping ruling for his
flop during the March 24 SA-Hou game.

1/23/13
The NBA fined Kevin Martin (OKC) $5,000 for his 2nd flopping ruling.  The
flop occurred during the January 20 OKC-Den game.

1/21/13
The NBA fined J.J. Barea (Min) $5,000 for his 2nd flop ruling of the
season.  The flop occurred during the January 14 Dal-Min game.

12/30/12
The NBA issued flopping warnings to Gustavo Ayon (Orl) (during the 12/26
NO-Orl game), Royal Ivey (Phi) (during the 12/26 Phi-Mem game), and Tony
Parker (SA) (during the 12/28 Hou-SA game)

12/12/12
The NBA issued a flopping warning to Zaza Pachulia (Atl) for his flop
during Friday's Atl-Was game.

12/5/12
The NBA fined Gerald Wallace (Bro) $5,000 for flopping during Saturday's
Mia-Bro game [a fine is issued for the 2nd ruling of a player flopping].

12/5/12
The NBA issued a warning to Chauncey Billups (LAC) for flopping during
Wednesday's Uta-LAC game.

11/21/12

offense, which occurred during Tuesday's Bro-LAL game.

11/5/12
The NBA issued a warning to J.J. Barea (Min) for flopping in the 11/2
Min-Sac game.

If ever flopping becomes a plague and the big media outfits covering the game, howl in protest ...... baka sakaling isama ang flopping sa reviewable items under 2 minutes.

It's unlikely to happen though ...... besides affecting the game continuity, not to mention the excitement level of the game, the NBA will never admit that it's own anti-flopping measures are ineffective.

The only reasonable solution to the this, train better referees with eyes geared toward realistic flopping scenarios.

Most players will still flop to help his team win the game ...... he will flop on purpose or on instinct.

siyempre taking a charge is legit. establish your position, take the hit/contact from torso then fall down. yan naman madaling makita ng refs. yung problem yung nasa maling angle yung refs tapos mag flail ng arm or excessive body contortion to sell a foul parang yung kay Stephenson and Ray Allen.

I think the bad calls were on both sides.  There was one play na 24 seconds ang Indiana pero kitang kita naman na tumama yun bola sa isang player so clock should have been reset.  After that bad call, biglang nag rally ang Heat.  Pero mas madami ngang dubious calls against the Heat ;D

But let's not take away the superb game of Indiana.  They made adjustments and shut down Lebron's inside game. They capitalized on their size.  Hibbert was a brute force. And I think the X-Factor was Stephenson.  He had one hell of a game capped by that buzzer beater ending the 3rd Q.

I don't like Lebron's take on flopping though. Naturuan na talaga ni Wade and Bosh

evidence:

Back in the day ( forgive my old age guys ), si Philip Cezar mastered the art of flopping and selling fouls to the refs.  I think sya na yata ang hari ng flop sa PBA.  There was one game ng Crispa Toyota, na 6 fouls si Jaworski dahil sa "famas" acting ni King Philip.  Cesar knew where the refs are positioned at pag di kita ng ref, hahawakan nya kamay ni Jawo at pag medyo pumalag si Jawo, hayun biglang tatapon kuno si Cesar.  Sabay whistle ang ref, "Foul #7 Jawooorsskii...!" Sa sobrang inis ni Jawo, he acted as if may video camera sya at kinukunan si Cesar.  Pati si Fernandez suki rin ni Cesar.  Cesar was one of the smartest players ever earning him the monicker, "The Scholar", aside from Tapal King.

I read somewhere he flopped on Isiah.  But that was very rare.  I don't recall Jordan as a flopper as much as Rodman.  Or Vlade Divac!! ( watch this :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajUs-oD4oDQ )

CP3, Manu, Varejao, Heat big 3, David West etc etc. :D
