Because of some good readings here on the audio performance of old or maybe vintage amps, I recently got myself an old amp. after about 2 weeks of enjoyment the amp conked. Its left channel got that loud static noise. I had it repaired and that busted capacitors, etc. made me shell out 2.5k in Love electronics. I know its an old unit and did not ask for a warranty from the seller here. So wala akong nagawa.

I bought another one and more expensive unit and after about several weeks of use that amp for no reason just dont want to turn on. Feeling ko lugi ako dito because i cannot use the amp. Again we did not talk about warranty with the same seller. I dont know if I will PM the seller for this kasi he might not give me the answer i want. Ano sa tingin nyo? Sino ba ang me ganitong problema? Thanks

lesson learned....do not believe everything you read here.....

imho, the seller has a moral obligation to assist you with your problem........saan ba nabile yan? so we know which ones to avoid....

2.5k for busted capacitors? hmmm......i may yet go back to repairing amps.....pays good pala.....

buying second hand, is like playing in the casino....sometimes you hit the jackpot other times you lose, such is life.....

Wag na natin idamay yung seller, vintage / second hand gears is a gamble it can happen to anyone. Besides di natin alam yung condition of how the amp was used.

This all depends on a lot of things. What kind of answers do you want to hear from the seller? I'm sure you knew the risks before you embarked on buying it right?

Are you after a solution? Because this just invites guesses from other members and a chance for those to make profound statements and yet still offer you no solution.

Masama ba malaman kung sino lalo na pangalawang amp na nya ito sa same seller? I am requesting for myself...besides alam ko yang sinasabi mong gamble basta used item wether vintage or not. I just would like to know and i am not "accusing".

ang mahal nga naman ng labor mo sa busted capacitor...

are those units 100v? or 110v?

wala bang nagshoshort or something? tapos ung isa ayaw pa magon...i felt bad...
i purchase vintage amp as well....suerte lang siguro ako..kahit 8-10hr bukas e tumtumunog pa din ng maganda...

if i were you..i will talk to the seller directly and makiusap ka...mahirap kasi mabasa pa ng seller to dito..
mas maganda na kausapin mo sya...... parang magGF lang at magasawa yan...

lakasan lang ng loob talaga ang pagbili ng used gears esp vintage. kahit nga ako pagnagbenta todo dasal na sana mapapakinabangan pa ng next owner ang gamit ko. nakakakonsyensya kasi.

anyways, for sure may warranty naman ang Hate Electronics.

the best siguro sa pagbili ng vintage gears kung may tropa kang kagaya ni jojoD and alike.

Medyo mataas na nga charge nila lalo na pag in-home service. Pero parang prompt sila dumating at nagfafollowup din, kaya din siguro ASC sila ng ibang known brands. Besides, I'm sure mas mababa ang charge nila sa manufacturer pag mga warranty repairs.

jerix has a valid problem, and like everybody else here we all want to taste the fruits of our labor and extend the power of our Pesos diba?

maraming beses ko na kasi ito nakita at na-experience. minsan may nagdala dito ng tube preamp na di ko naman gawa at nakikiusap na i-repair daw dahil garalgal ang isang channel. nagbubusa at kung ano sinasabi nun owner dahil sa inis niya, ang sabi ko isauli mo dun sa gumawa para siya ang mag repair at mabigyan din ng chance to clear his name. kaso bad experience na daw siya kaya para matapos na lang ako na din ang nag repair.

what I'm trying to say here is let's work the problem, pag naayos yun amp sigurado tapos ang usapan.

on another note...

nun ipinanganak yun bunso ko nagbayad ako 100K+ para sa ospital, doktor, etc. mahal kasi Caesarian section daw etc etc, di ako makareklamo kasi di naman ako ob-gyne eh...

kung marunong lang ako magpaanak ako na lang sana gumawa...

sana humingi si ts ng warranty kasi ung 1st deal nila nagkaron na ng problema kahit 1 month lang and dapat inidicate din nung seller kung may issue ung amp for transparency

parehas pala tayo ako first day nagulat ako 72k hahaha...nabenta ko tuloy mga gamit ko kulang pa..buti nalang butuhin ang akeng lola..gang ngayon hindi na ako sinisingil haha....

kapag bumili ng vintage...patugtogin ng mga 4hours na tuloy tuloy ...audition naman e...dyan palang for sure makikita na kung may issue..unless after a week pa lumabas

wala naman tayo magawa sir diba? yun kumpare ko kahapon nagrereklamo nag overheat daw kotse niya 10K gastos sa cylinder head, ang sabi ko na lang di naman tayo marunong magpalit ng gasket at baka lumaki pa sira pag diy tapos di naman marunong.

ito pa Jo, kagabi nagpahatid kami sa terminal dahil lakas ulan, biglang nawalan ng ilaw sa loob pati power window etc. hazard at headlight lang ang meron. buti sa evangelista kami inabot at swerte may bukas pang shop. in short, 850 singil sa amin sa isang 100A fuse at labor. sabi ng kasama ko, ang mahal naman! sabi ko sa ganung sitwasyon lalo pang umuulan, di mo na iindahin ang singil tutal kumpanya naman ang magbabayad.

I agree with you. Sometimes kasi, it's also a possibility na sa buyer din ang problem. This happened to my CDP and amp nun lumipat ako ng house. nag-248v ang power. After masira, wala akong choice but to use voltage regulator.

Or it is also possible na the seller, in good faith, does not know na may problem yun gear because it was tested before it was purchased. I don't think ganun kadali ma-predict or malalaman ng isang tao na pasira na yun gamit niya na ibebenta...? Baka by chance na lang talaga ang nangyari.

Hey guys thanks for your thoughts regarding the issue.

Gamit ko sa office yung first amp. Ganda ng tunog I thought that time panalo ako dito. but one time bigla na lang gumaralgal yung left channel. I turned it off, turned it on again, ganun pa rin. I had it brought to Love electronics 2.5k daw. Ganun daw ang singil nila sa mga OLD items, like that AKAI.Nagawa naman but when our in-house technician checked it out- mga capacitors lang daw naman ang pinalitan. Anyway gumana naman na but i now brought it home. The good thng, however nawawala ang feeling "LUGI" ko when i am using it kasi even my wife is liking the sound. Hindi nga nagalit kasi sabi ko pinahiram lang ng officemate ko hehehe.

I am still thinking where to bring the NAD. baka ganun ulit ang singil or mas mahal pa.

The seller is nice but the problem is i am not so comfortable in bringing and pushing the issue to him considering the fact that i know that the amp is old and the problem happened several weeks after my purchase. I have the feeling that in this case i cannot claim full item return right because it was not a condition and we did not talk about that. It seems that the whole thing now boils down to the term called "caveat emptor."

For the first amp, yung caps normal na nasisira (maski pag di ginagamit madalas nasisira yan with age). Hindi naman siguro alam ng seller na bibigay yun right after you bought the unit. Mahirap talaga malaman kasi there are many cases na tumatakbo pa ang unit pero off-spec or sira na some parts inside (on its last strings of life na kumbaga).

As for the NAD, contact the seller and ask if he offers any warranty sa mga benta nya or if he can share part of the repair cost. Otherwise, ganun talaga kasi most used items are sold as-is. Kung ikaw ang sasagot, tanong mo muna ang inspection cost sa service center bago mo pa-repair. Baka mataas yung inspection fee (tapos repair at parts cost pa), at lalong sumama ang kalagayan mo.
