Thanks sir Dana for the very nice and informative listening session with AN... Sarap makinig pag pro ang ka jamming he he. Til' next time sir!!!
hi jun.
natuloy rin pagpunta ko sa wakas...thanks for the warm and wonderful invite to visit your home & your playground
. buti nakakuha ako ng window yesterday to drop by your place...
di naman ako pro, just like you, medyo nasa addictus level rin (sa akin, on & off love affair) ...
we always learn from others & we love tinkering with our toys to learn further.
yes, it was bit short & sweet , listening for almost 2.5 hrs (?) while sipping red wine in the afternoon
(ayuz), talk about sophisticated audiopiles! i must say your red wine must have some positive psycho acoustic effect on me during our listening session, not so much critical listening, but just music appreciation and to meet someone also in the hobby... just the same, i liked what i heard from your playground .others who are given the chance to see and hear your set-up , will say, "paglaki ko, gagayahin ko rin ang set-up mo"
kakatuwa , admiring your passion in this hobby of ours. here you are, in a not so big audio room (actually, a bit small by standards, say 2.5 x 3m area...pede mo ng palakihan pa, para sa susunod marami kaming susugod dyan
) with these humongous floor sized speaker systems with small drivers (!): MA (CHR70, tama ba) and the AN8, plus the other speakers around matched with these other vaccum tube amps from our prolific Papa "Nelson" Tonyt and the other toys.
Congratulations Jun, you have a winner set-up you can be proud of (...for the time being, unless SARS or other BI forces are stronger
...)
your EL34 push pull from papa TonyT with its matching Mark Audio (CHR70) was a surprise
, especially with its small matching speaker driver in a floor standing sized cabinet.it can hold its own .i think its good and will excel in jazz, vocal genres, the likes..., the bass is there and decent for its size, incredulous
now, I am a bit biased (as i told you late)r & leaning towards with Ron's (Painted Black) commissioned integrated 6V6 push pull with a buffer pre-stage ,matched with your AN8 ( Audio Nirvana full-r, in a floor standing type cabinet)... the magic is there- such openess, tight punchy bass ,coherence, and good dynamics...i think/feel that the buffer stage (matched well with the source player...) instead of the usual pre-amp stage, matched with 6v6 pp power stage of Papatonyt's must have some big contribution also...didnt notice the subwoofer integration when you switched it on, seems ok as it is...or must be the software content limitation.
so its confirmed,
you have a nice and winner set-up, anybody must be proud of.
Obviously meron ka ngang dugong audiophile , trace mo kung kanino mo namana:sa mother or father side
;D...
lastly, the city of Marikina must be proud of you as one of its constituents
now na alam ko na lugar mo, makabalik ulet jan sa susunod
