I bought a 50vt30 last December and am very happy with it. Will the USB media player of the VT30 series play stored movies on a USB HD? Has anyone ever tried it? I wondering if I could avoid having to buy an external media player.  i would appreciate hearing from other owners.

Thanks a lot.

Yes, it will work po yung mga movies via USB. kaso po minsan grainy sya.. kaya mas maganda pa rin may dedicated Media Box/HTPC po.

note po even DTS audio format po gagana sya.

Guys im really torn between 51e550 and 50vt30. I tried searching for a comparison review between the two but cant find any. Im gonna be using it mostly on watching 1080p mkv and BD ISOs on my dedicated media player. My main TV (UN60D7000) is in my HT room so I will be placing this in our bedroom. I was wondering if I can get your expert advice on my dilemma.

Both units are Full HD 3D Plasma units.... and are solid brands...

But based on my actual side by side with a Samsung 51e550 vs my 42VT30... I did like the rich IQ and deep black levels of the PANA Plasma vs Samsung...Samsung plasma showed a bit greyish dark screens compared to true deep black of the VT30... Malayo talaga even if both units are set to DYNAMIC mode...

Very evident IQ difference in PANASONIC VT30's favor...

Hope this helps...

IMHO The Samsung plasma appears as if you're watching on a glossy screen, so it seems to be more bright.  On the other hand, the Panasonic is like watching on a matte screen, so it appears to be more dark, thus black is more pronounced.  Im sure a lot of people would disagree, but this is just based on my opinion.

Which one is better, it depends on your preference.  You have to audition both TV to see what suits your taste, not to mention your budget.

Yes there is, it's through the service menu. I'll have to look for the link though.

Uy meron pa rin 50VT30 talaga?   If you have 1.9m viewing distance in your bedroom, that will suffice - just set the installation height to your neck's comfortable level (para di ka mangawit).

The 50VT30 is still one of the best units that a buyer can get in the 50Inch segment... Its a good choice...

Too bad the 42VT30 units are all sold out... im sure matagal pa yan before you'll find one in the FS section in PDVD...

Hey guys got my 50vt30 from vic last week. They had 1 stock but turns out basag yun screen. Decided to get the one on display. Just wondering meron bang nag isf calibration dito saten? What settings do you guys use watching 1080p content? Tried using THX mode as they claim this the best setting if you want to get really close to a calibrated screen. Okay sana kaso medyo greenish/yellowish for my taste. Tried copying settings from US EU model users pero washed out naman ang color. I know all sets differs from the other specially US / EU / ours Asia?? versions. But since we got the same version (unless you bought it outside the country) maybe it will give close results.

Heres my current settings: (hdmi NMT 1080p/24)
Mode: Cinema
Contrast: 75
Brightness: 0
Colour: 64
Sharpness: 0
Tint: -1
Colour Balance: Normal
Vivid Colour: Off
Colour Remaster: Off
Eco Mode: Off
P-NR: Off
24p smooth: Max
Resolution Enhancer: Mid
Gamma: 2.2
The rest is untouched.

Still rock solid... Amazing DYNAMIC colors when watching 1080p material...

No pink green blobs...  I got lucky with a very good unit...

42VT30 rocks!!!!

I badly missed the VT30 in 3D last night - while watching Life Of Pi in Blu-Ray.    Cinematography must have been even more fantastic in 3D for this particular movie.

Oh, my wife's 50VT30 is doing tooooooo well with our immediate relatives.  Dumalas ang pagbisita ng mga siblings and their families.   ;D
