The VT has better PQ - period - day or night.  They are not the same panel, they dont have the same filter, they dont have the same video engine.

If VT is the Chairman Of The Joint Chief Of Staff, ST is a Captain - hehehe.  (up to 2011 ne...ibang usapan yung models this year).  So whatever the ST has and can do, the VT should have and can do (better) - unless they stripped down the Asia model, but definitely not vise versa.

DLNA still is rather immatured for all TVs, but Im happy to be proven otherwise, so keep it wired or at least minimize WIRELESS stuff para reliable ang operations and streaming especially.  Also, stick with your current device for internet needs as the proprietary portals of HDTVs are very limited anyways - again Id be happy to be corrected on this.

Does this mean that VT has better PQ during daytime and lesser reflection? I thought ST has some filtering as well.  How about other features like supported formats and DLNA?  Are they both the same?

Kung hindi super bargain/clearance sale/questionable stock - yung deal, the 42VT should be priced around 60K.  In other words, the outdated 42ST is STILL being sold at retail, while you are saving 20K for the outdated 42VT.  Kaya kung outdated ST din lang, the outdated VT at 39K is a total bargain and most definitely worth checking.

Thank you for your response.

In other words, hindi pa super bargain price ang 35K sa 42ST30?  Ok, Listening room (megamall) offers it with 33k including the glasses.  Not a 'super bagain price' still compared to 42VT30?

Curious lang kasi ako kung anong makukuha ko sa 4K for the VT model. Salamat. :)

If Mitsubishi offers you last year's Lancer for 700K and last year's Montero for 725K, which one is the rather ridiculous buy?

Those VT30 local prices are not normal...kaya check carefully.  worth checking for sure.

Ok - I like your analogy. :)

Of course, Montero is an SUV and we all know the 'huge' differences against the lancer (being a sedan).  I just need to educate myself what are those 'huge' differences between an ST and a VT that will convince myself to invest additional 4k (or 6k) to get the latter.  But hey, I get your point.  Probably, I'll visit SnS or other stores to see the real world differences between these models myself and decide from there.

One more thing - Others said that Plasmas can consume  power at around 200W-300W while LEDs are around 100-150 of the same panel size.  In the real world, what will be the average consumption?

if they can offer the VT30 for 39K, I'd say an equitable price for the ST30 should be 20K. ;)  ;D ;D.  Then I would think about the ST30.

My ACTUAL consumption on my 50V2 purchased in March 2010 is 30% of nameplate rating.  My wife who uses a 2010 42V20 still does not know the effect of that TV on her monthly bill.  Panasonic Japan claims 25% (of the backplate rating) for the 2011 VT model and even lower for the 2012 models.  Boss Vic says it's 50% on his locally available plasmas.  Take your pick.  Perhaps the ST is not as efficient as in higher than 30% or 50%, I dont know - but then it's nameplate rating should be lower than the VT anyways.  So malamang mas makakatipid ka ng KONTI sa ST than a VT - as in a few kWH per month.

Compared sa LEDs?  If every Filipino saves 100 Pesos a month, then the country would have extra 10B Pesos in a month.  Wow cool!  But to you as an individual, how big is 100 pesos a month, or 200?  Problema, if you like your plasma TV too much, you'd use the aircon longer and the power hungry AVR and subs - that will increase your electric bill - but can you blame the TV?   ;)

And dont forget, an equal grade LED will cost you a lot more than the VT30 which is quite likely un-recoupable during the entire usable lifespan of your HDTV.  So saan ka nakatipid in the end?

Thanks, man. I really appreciate your time here.

Reason why I raised this (e.g. Power consumption) is that I was contemplating between the ST30 and the Samsung 40EH5000 D-Led TV.  The budget really is ~30K and leaning towards ST30 until I read about the VT30.  I'm not sure if I can stretch the budget to get that.  Is there a Panny plasma that's full-HD but not 3D with the same panel as VT?   I really don't need 3D to begin with.

You wanna buy my 2 year old 42V20 which I got for 65K for 30K?  hehehe.  That's definitely better than the ST30 and definitely walang green monster.  hehehe

Marami pa bang stocks ng 42VT30 and 50VT30 sa mga in-house sellers? What about stores like Abenson or Ansons, do they also sell the VT30?

I dont expect the prices to go down because the ST50 will most likely be higher anyways.  This model was TOP OF THE LINE - there was nothing else higher in 2011.  Inuubos lang eto.

I don't think the consumer market retailers (Ansons, Abensons) have any stock of the VT30. Puro 42/50X yung alok sa akin tsaka bigger screens for the ST. Wala silang VT30 models.

Thanks, man.  End of November pa yung release ng bonus eh hehe so most likely early December pa ako makabili.  Hanggang 35K lang talaga ang approved ni commander in chief kaya baka ST30 nalang ang kukunin ko.  I'll try to renegotiate kay sir Vic kung magkano ang VT30 if without the 3D glasses.  Otherwise, dead-end ako sa ST30.

So you have at least 30 days to save 4K or max 133 per day ne.

Or, you can just talk to Boss Vic or Dom that whatever you pay for the VT30, his O.R. would show exactly 35K.  hehehe.  That's a white lie in my opinion.

Whatever you decide on, get a 3D glass and find a way to see me during my Xmas vacation - it's gonna be worth your time.

Living within your means - that's noble.

Actually, 30K talaga ang budget.  35K is overly stretched already for ST30 with 3D glasses kaya pumayag na si komander.  We're on a tight budget so I was considering ST30 without the glasses for 31K since 3D is not important to us (at least for the time being hehehe).  I don't have any 3D content to play with kasi.

Whatever you decide on, get a 3D glass and find a way to see me during my Xmas vacation - it's gonna be worth your time.

Thanks, dude.  Will do.

The 39K VT30 comes with free 3D glasses nga ba? Does that mean you can opt not to have 3D glasses for around 35K?

Yes, sir with 3d glasses na ang st30 (35k) and vt30 (39k). I don`t know if may option to not include the glasses sa vt30. I have to ask pa. Sir vic mentioned though na 31k ang st30 pag without the glasses.

Used both st and vt and i'd go with vt30. It goes with free wifi adapter, better blacks imo and much much much better back panel for inputs especially if you're going to wall mount it.

Kailangang dumating muna ako dyan sa Dec 22nd and Ert has to bring the A400 locally.  Then makikipag-unahan na rin ako siguro sa VT30.   Sayang chance!  Hehehe.

Tama.. most important is to set and maximize your budget for the TV plasma unit first... the VT30 is already a 2011 model and most likely the stocks for this model will soon be totally sold out to make way for the newer VT50 (2012) model.  if you can get the VT30 by nov or december this year at around 38k~39k that would be a very good deal already.

media player or HTPC can be easily bought .... so you can prioritize this later once you have acquired the plasma unit.
