Simple,  it's panasonic's flagship plasma tv in 2011 at an incredibly low price... The 42VT30 use to be selling for about 50k when it was first introduced locally.

PQ and black levels are very close and identical to the now discontinued pioneer Kuro plasma monitor, reference series.

But compared to other brands like the 8 series of Samsung and of Lg, the Pana truly stands out when compared side by side. Clearly Day and night difference.

At this current price of 38k~39k it's a really good bargain for a full HD 3D unit.

The 2012 VT50 series will certainly be more expensive when released here in Manila. Bags pa kasi. And the smallest size in the VT50 series is 50inches...

The42VT30 is perfect for a medium sized bedroom.

Regarding the pink/green blob issue, just like any buyer, it always is a good habit to thoroughly check the unit before buying. There are some PDVD members here who were willing to bring some demo samples to check for this issue.

Again if your unit does have this issue, you can always ask the store to test it and ask for a possible replacement.

So far, my 42VT30 unit is just doing fine. No blob issues so far.

Very glad I got this model.

Matanong ko lang kayo mga kaibigan,

If the latest flagship VT50 is released in Manila soon, how much MORE are you willing to pay for a 50VT50 (relative to the 50VT30 which is about 60K)?  Then for benchmarking of VT pricing, how much are the most expensive models of Sony, Sharp, LG, and Samsung in Manila for 50 inch HDTVs?

Regarding the ST50.  How much is the expected Manila price of the 42 and 50 model nga pala?  2011's ST30 was reasonable because its panel and video engine were a lot cheaper than that of GT30 and VT30.

Nakakaparanoid yung green blob issue na yan kaya kanina ilang beses ko inulit ulit yung crab scene sa potc kasama kapatid ko at pareho kaming titig na titiig sabay tinanong ko sya kung may nakita syang berde, buti naman wala hahaha at ilang beses din ako nag play ng calibration video from gray image to 100% white, and so far hindi affected yung unit ko,sukit talaga ang price nito sa pagdating sa pq plus the built in media player can play mkv from my 1 tera external enclosure, mawawalan na ng silbi yung egreat ko nito malamang.

Yung GT50 and VT50 naman have basically the same specs except for the bezel design and extra remote of the VT50. They also got a big boost in terms of steps of gradation - the VT30 has 6,144 versus 12,286 for the ST50 and a massive 24,576 for the GT and VT50. So even the ST50 should really have a slightly better image than the VT30.

I dont agree.   Yes the video engine for the 2012 models have been improved, BUT, the ST50 panel per se is inferior comparatively. The ST50 has weaker black and is slightly blurry and washed-out when viewed right next to the 2011 VT30 - that is quite apparent.  Go ahead and try to see for yourselves if you can get a chance.  The panel tech of ST50 is not as advanced as that of the VT30, and I dont think ST50 has THX mode.  Go try a VT model under THX mode and tell us if you're not blown away.  Ang problema lang ng VT30 is that alleged green blob.

Nonetheless, the ST50 is quite a significant improvement compared to the ST30, and given it's reasonable price level, the result is very high cost-performace.  However, it is still not the same level as the VT or GT.  Pampasaya lang ng mga ayaw gumastos ng additional for a GT or VT yung idea na yon.  Pero pag pinagtabi-tabi, iba pa rin ang GT and VT PQ.  Ganon pa man, walang tabi-tabing ST, GT and VT in a normal house - sa stores lang meron ganon set-up.  So OK na rin talaga iuwi ST50.  hehehe

Iba rin ang grade ng panel tech ng GT50 and VT50.

I guess there is a reason why Panasonic released different models since iba iba ang capability nila.  And of course mas mahal if mas high end.

Same din sa car, iba ang presyo ng 4 x 2 sa 4 x 4 model of the same car make and model.  Mas mahal ang 4 x 4 sa 4 x 2.

I dont think Panasonic will release a lower end model to be better than the high end model...

Congrats on the 42VT30... Ganda ng BLACK levels no?  lalo na pag DYNAMIC settings :)

On my untrained eyes (not a videophile), I'm blown away with the PQ! Thrice ko na inulit yung 720p ko na Avatar so sobrang saya ko sa PQ.. hehehe.  It's very SHARP and contrast and blacks are freaking amazing!  How much more kaya pag 1080p content.

Hindi pa ito calibrated and I'm using True Cinema mode (HDD source).  I prefer this over dynamic. THX is only available if source is via HDMI.  My 3 year old LG DVD player doesn't have HDMI.  It only has composite.  Lahat ng HD movies ko nasa HDD so I'm using the built-in media player most of the time.  I don't know if I ever need a player (or blueray for that matter) that has HDMI out coz lahat ng movies ko soft copy. Hehe.  Mahal pa masyado ang mga orig Blue Ray discs.

Thanks, bro.  Like I said on my previous posts, sobrang lagpas na kami sa budget when I got the VT30 so sa built-in media player muna hehehe. I don't have enough dada for a 3DBD player. Maybe next year..

Right now, I'm on a lookout for a cable TV provider.  :-)
