Di ko na nahintay 50ST50 kaya kumuha ako ng 50VT30 and I'm very happy sa picture quality. Buti di ko pa nakikita ang "green and pink monsters" sa mga materials na na-play ko. The only problem is naliliitan na si misis sa 50 incher... Maybe next year go for 65VT50 naman pag nag-bargain or projector na pag may extra moolah! :)

Centro ka pala. Kaso Dec pa ako makakauwi ulit.
Fr those who are using the media player, have you noticed that it takes a while for it to read a large capacity hard drive? Medyo mabagal magread compared to my LG 32 inch tv.

I'm using a 1TB toshiba external drive.  Now, I'm not sure how mabagal is 'mabagal' for you.  But mine, it's acceptable.

Which part ba ang mabagal?  When the TV's reading the drive (right after you plug it in the USB port) or when opening/playing a movie?

It's very slow when reading the drive. But once read, loading the movie is relatively fast. I used my low end LG 32 inch model to compare it with and relatively mas matagal magread yung built in media player ng VT30.

Can the VT30 play a 1080p MKV direct from the USB port, or 720p ang limit?  Just curious, but it seems mas convenient (and perhaps more reliable) pa rin ang standalone media player.

So what's the latest supply situation on the 50VT30?  Meron pa ba?

^ This should be possible if the TV and the PC were configured correctly on your home network. Your TV should work as any other Wifi eanbled device.

@ Clondalkin,
I agree that stand alone media player is still the way to go. But the USB port of the TV should still help in simplifying things for some technologically challenged people. Like for example in my case, the TV is in the province and the users are not used to modern media players. I would prefer to provide them with a portable hard drive with instructions on how to browse and play the content via the USB input of the TV rather than ask them to configure and connect a media player. Less items to check in case it doesn't work.

Dumb confirmation, but you're trying to access media streaming via Viera Tools/Link and not through Viera Cast (Internet) right? (the green button)

Hmm. Let's wait for the others to chime in regarding you problem sir jduval. Limited time kasi ako dati when I played with the VT30. I spent most of my time watching only movies and didn't have the chance to make kalikot.
Pag-uwi ko this Dec tsaka ko pagsasawaan yung TV and learn kung ano pwede ko gawin. hehehe

coming from a media player.....mabagal talaga siya mag read ng drive....it can play MKV  but can't decode Dts pag naka DTS yung MKV file mo.

Good choice on choosing the Pana 42Vt30...

But unfortunately, the VT30 series is being sold at very good and really unbeatable price at 38k~39K... and is considered as a fast moving item amoung the resellers here in PDVD...

I'd say that your chances of getting one by January 2013 might be low...  Better get/reserve your unti as early as possible...

Per my inquiry the other day, the following stores have the VT30

Listening Room (megamall) --- 50VT30 & 42VT30
SnS Shangrila - 42VT30

OT --- I tested the 3D feature of the 50VT30 the other day in megamall... IMO, mas ganda ng quality compared to LG / Samsung...  but again, im no expert... just an ordinary TV user here :)

I definitely feel the VT30 units in Manila require shop test and inspection prior to purchase.   Kung wala sanang ganoon condition, madali lang pakiusapan ang Wife na pakibili kahit sya lang mag-isa.  So I must wait and take chance sa Xmas pa.  Kung wala na sa Pasko, swerte talaga ng mga nakabili ng units without issues - SWIRTI!!!! - don't wait guys!  Wala namang mawawala sa subok.
