Fans are the lifeblood of any league. In he PBA's case, the female demographic became the more prominent one the past 2 decades (thanks in part to that '98 PUREFOODS team).
No offense to our lady viewers, but only a small fraction of female fans know the intricancies of the game and actually play the game. Yup, they won't usually care about things like FG%.
Let's face it (pun intended), face-value is a driving factor for many of our lady viewers ...... the good-looking star players are placed on a high-pedestal regardless of performance e.g. James Yap
One more "shining" example is JC Intal ...... except for a single good quarterfinals series, he has played like CRAP for most of his PBA career. Yet when the PBA sends a team for all-star events, celebrity games, etc you can bet your house that Intal will be there.
