Can older NMTs( Realtek 1073/1055) recognize full 3TB SATA disks?

Since Realtek 1055/1073 chip are no longer in production since 2010, I am wondering if you folks have experienced a problem of not recognizing newer 3TB disks in your older NMT?

If you did encounter this, what was your workaround?
