It took me a few years to finally embark on a journey to listening and viewing pleasure, when 2012 started I decided that I am going to upgrade my bedroom set up of a Home Theater In a Box to a real system and stop short changing myself of the pleasure of watching excellent movies with REAL sound while laying in bed.
Come mid year, I was able to save enough funds and took the first step in this long and never ending journey...auditioning. I listened to as many systems as my ears could handle. I went to numerous audio/video stores and after maybe 2 months of PURE auditioning, I had a few brand names in mind that I would like to choose from-- Klipsch,Polk Audio, B&W and Wharfedale. Another month passed (July 2012) and after considering the budget that I set aside, I went with the Klipsch set up driven by a pioneer receiver and a BADA power amp..
I was satisfied with my set and was already enjoying my audio/video Nirvana until my brother decided to upgrade his own Bose system and asked me to join him. While auditioning with my brother I chanced upon a tube amp powering a B&W pair and just couldn't forget how sweet the sound was, when I got home that day (sometime in October) I immediately went on the net to try and find a budget tube amp. I wasn't ready to start a pure audio set up from scratch but it didn't matter, I was hell bent on finding a way to create a separate audio system. Luckily one of the members of PDVD (louie) informed me that there was a nearby tube amp store in my area that I could visit.
As soon as I had the chance I stopped by and listened to all sorts of tube amps and was able to identify the type of sound that I wanted, two nights later I sent an email to Andrew Sevillla to set up an appointment and to get sound advice about his masterpieces, needless to say after our little meeting I went home with a nice little tube amp, and alas, my audio journey has begun. I moved my Klipsch floorstander from my HT down to my living area to pair it with my newly acquired cd player during the HiFi show and my AMX tube amp.
My bedroom though was a mess without the Klipsch so I also pulled the trigger in rehabilitating a new HT set up and went with B&W's. Finally(mid November), my journey is complete, I have a 2.0 set up in my living area and a small HT setup in my bedroom. I don't think I could ask for anything more, well maybe not until the next upgrade itch bites me.
Cheers and thank you for visiting.
