purchased new cables getting sticky and oily.

yo  bought these generic speaker cables that seem to be sticky oily. should i be concerned? will it lead to cables corroding?

it could be snake oil...  :o  ;D

by the way, which part - the wire or the rubber covering... ?

lol. snake oil.
ive read most cables are wrapped in pvc plastic wrapping and if it isnt prepared well it can rot. im not sure if any else has encountered this.

what you mean "not prepared well"? half-cooked? the oily feel on the wire could be part int the production process to avoid them to stick together and same time to protect against oxidation or corrosion.

I read in other sites that there are cable manufacturers used oil as dielectric...  ::)

like it or not, copper reacts with hydrogen in the atmosphere and tarnishes green with time, this is because there is always an air space between the copper core and the pvc outer sheath....this is inevitable....

replacing your cables once each year should take care of this...
