for me, i own both and the reason why i still keep on using and buying an nmt is the convenience plus it's very affordable

Lahat naman kasi ng bagay may pros and cons you wont see any product na wala cons. Like sa bluray yes maganda siya pero syempre cons niya mahal ang bluray disc. Ano ba ang product na perfect at wala ka na hahanapin?

Hehehe this TS is hilarious, and from what i've read nagbura pa ng posts sa ibang thread para hindi matrace name nya, yun nga lang na quote ni brader Jim. This is either pure hate or naisahan ng mga hmr reseller hihihi. Nice attitude to bring into 2013 Herwin. I almost tried to get in touch with a family friend because your handle is her name, but then again i think ana is better than this rant of yours.

Wow... laki ng galit.

HTPC's are great but not without flaws. 1st would be cost. since PC's parts can be changed you cant help yourself but upgrade. and that start up 10k budget of yours will double with all the updates in the pc world. It all starts with a good looking case then an itx/micro atx mobo to fit the case, new psu... blah blah blah. then you get intrigued w gaming then comes the expensive video cards. And not to mention the cost of the software. Sure Linux is free but it's like driving right hand drive. And lastly MERALCO.

NMT's are plug and play with the only upgrade needed is in the firmware. but it may lack the PQ/SQ the HTPC's can provide.

So there's really no need to bash. Everyone has their taste. whatever the Department of Budget approves then go for it. Spend more time watching movies on your HTPC or NMT with your loved ones and less time on PDVD. (do your readings during work at least you get paid)

Me too. I have an old laptop connected to a PS3 via media server. I'm not sure if either falls under HTPC/NMT

I have a cheap Egreat NMT connected to a 2 tb hdd.

I never found it to be a waste, I'm very much pleased with it actually.

PQ and SQ although not the best around, is good enough for me. Displays 1080/24 with no probs with DTS HDMA.

I had my money's worth..... and a lot more... Bang for buck

I would recomend nmts to anybody, especially the ones below 5k pesos... If an MKV player is all you need, I dont think HTPCs are what you need, since those can get very costly.

to each his own. I've been using NMTs for 3 years now and I've never regretted buying them instead of going the HTPC route. I also gave my previous NMT to my parents and I only had to teach them once on how to use it and they have no problems with it. I don't think that's possible with a HTPC. Baka pag HTPC ang binigay ko sa kanila tatawagan ako niyan everytime they want to play a movie.
