Brod, eto yung converted units sa LIS.  110Vac sa likod nang panel ang nakalagay pero 220Vac na  ang operating voltage.  Sabi nila sa LIS, autovolt daw.  ;D

is it advisable to buy a Panasonic plasma while it is still available? I suppose  no new plasma models will be coming out next year . but what about support like parts?

Yes, pareho rin yan.  Sa US, required ang parts availability for at least 3 years.

Yeah it appears na baliktad ang pricing situation ng US and Australia with regard to these 2 specific models.  With that level of savings, I would choose the VT60 in the US and the 8500 in Australia.

Agree with Barrister's post, well at least based on Magnolia Room's demo models, mas accurate ang color saturation ng Panny and the black levels are better.   Pero those differences probably wouldn't matter when you bring a VT60 or an 8500 home where you have no side-by-side comparison na.  And mas marami ka talagang flexibility sa installation location with a brighter image.  For those who are used to LED brightness, the 8500 is almost like something between a plasma and an LED.  That is not to say that the VT60 would not be suitable for a bright room  - it will be OK as well.  Even the ST series is OK under lights.

Having cooling fans has never been an issue for me - and my TV room in Tokyo is very narrow.  As long as the after-sales support of the maker is good in your country, I don't think this will be a major issue.  Wala ba talagang cooling fans ang Samsung for their top of the line model?  - I find that rather strange considering the amount of heat that high quality plasma panels produce - and these new TVs are getting thinner, thus proper heat dissipation becomes a bigger challenge.

I would strongly suggest getting an extended warranty if you get this level and size of TV.  Hindi mo naman maiisip ibebenta yung ganitong TV dahil maganda talaga and 65 is huge - but having extended warranty coverage for a reasonable amount of additional money is good.  My 2010 V2 is covered under 2015.   Unfortunately, I didn't have a similar option for the VT30 purchased from SNS.

bosschief alan, did you break in your vt30? I am reading some threads in AV Forums and quite a number is reporting IR sa VT60 nila.  I thought the new gen plasmas are no longer very much susceptible to IRs, I have a 60UT50 which i can say nagkaka IR padin. I just got a 65vT60 and will break it in for at least 100 hrs using D-Nice slides, pero ang fear ko is baka mgkaroon pa din ng matinding IR kung di man burn in.

I dont believe in break in Anchit. I think IR is a signature of high end Panasonic Plasmas sa intense ng contrast especially if you're watching high def and shows with very sharp TV channel or subtitles.  But it's not going to reach burn in condition.  I use pixel flipper if I want to clean out IR.  Pero madalang yon.

bro natry ko na yan 2x, over nights. pero may faint hint pa din nung part nung webpage na pinanuod ko. o baka sa mata ko na lang nag burnin? indi naman na very noticeable kapag lang hahanapin mo, but I know its there.

Thanks sir. sige pang peace of mind ko na lang. my first plasma, the great 42PV70, ni-break in ko sya, and its been running now for almost 6 years walang IR. Pero itong UT50 ko hindi ko ni-break in.

Also another known problem of the vt60 is the fan noise. I will watch out for that.

Here she is, sorry for the crappy pictures.

The TV at the back is the 60UT50, iba talaga ang screen ng VT60, kahit patay itim na itim.

this is the D-Nice break in slides, siguro ill run it for two straight days lang instead of the "recommended" minimum of 100 hours.

I was home alone, I really wanted to assemble the tv, napakabigat, mag isa lang ako nag kabit, I think nasa 100pounds to, for sure bukas masakit ang likod ko ( sa ngalan ng kaatatan)

Beautiful Anchit!   Nakakainggit.  Hehehe.  Just imagine laway ko when it was $2,150 last Cyber Monday.   Parang maghapon ko yata tinitigan yung page ng Amazon.  Hehehe.

Anchit, it's amazing how you managed to install the 65VT60 on its pedestal by yourself only.  How did you do that?  Did you use clean cloth gloves?  hehehe.   I'm sure you'd love your VT60 so much more than the other big TV at the back.  BTW, your TV room in Aussie must be really spacious.  That 65VT is actually pretty huge yet looks normal compared to the width of the back wall.  Sa Japan, a 65 inch TV would practically cover my entire veranda sliding door - pero kung may pambili ako, I would block my veranda access.   ;D
