I've seen so many sub-$700 50" LEDs in WalMart lately.
One is a 50" Samsung LED which only costs $699 while a Sharp Aquos of the same size goes $648.

50" Emerson LCD is $548 which surprisingly has the same price as a 50" Philips LCD.

That's probably 2014 or 2015 pricing here in the PH. :P

I say wait a bit.  If I remember correctly, the lowest prices typically start showing up in Feb of each year.

Magandang pricing kung full HD yan! That's less than Php30k! Question is, yun shipping cost... Pero kung less than Php7k ang shipping cost, di kaya sulit pa din...?

I'm thinking of getting the UA-46EH5300 from SNS this weekend. It's 41k with HTE-330 I believe.

And the price could even be lower w/o the HTiB...

Really depends on what you will use it for. But for sheer image quality for movies and television, my vote goes to the Panasonic P50X50 and the LG 50PA4500. Both are 50" plasmas. If you mostly do gaming or monitor-use, which is the only reason anyone should not get a plasma IMO, Samsung's UA46EH5000 and Sony's 40EX650 are good choices.

But seriously, for a little more the LG 50PM6900 is very hard to beat. There's also the 55PM6900. Saw it at 58K cash at Anson's Makati before Christmas.

A bit of OT:

Both are just HD ready. Doesn't stop it from looking better than other full HD LCDs/LEDs when it comes to picture quality with movies and TV though. Plasmas, however, are simply unbeatable for cable TV viewing.

I'll be honest, I'm slightly biased against LCDs/LEDs since I use mostly plasmas and a projector. If 120 Hz "MotionFlow" isn't your cup of tea, I suggest you take a look at the Toshiba 46PB20 they were raving at in the other thread. Saw one in person, very good blacks as they've stated. Toshiba also has the best cable TV image quality among the LCD/LED camp. I think it fits your needs.

I have this same question because I'm planning to upgrade my LCD tv too. I don't have cable and I don't watch any local channels because I find most of the shows stupid.

I'm using my TV mainly for:

- external output from my laptop to watch movies
- playing xbox 360

I'm eyeing for Samsung UA-46EH5300 but I have read in this forum that a Panasonic 50" plasma is good too. Can you please help me decide guys? Thanks!

Here in Singapore for 40k (around 1.3k sgd), you can get a bnew Samsung PS43E490 43" 3D Plasma Tv + a used sanyo plv-z5 projector.

This is what i did when my old philips lcd and old projector got spoiled last december.

Sulit naman. Yung cable lang medyo malabo, I guess I need to upgrade to digital cable. =) Sa movies, swabe.

Good to know. I'm not really a fan of watching cable TV. But medyo skeptical lang ako about getting a 50 incher na HD ready lang. I've read a lot of not so good feedback regarding those. But I've learned from experience that benchmarks sometimes are deceiving.

When watching HD movies are the pixels really visible?... let's say at 6ft viewing distance.
Do you gaming on that TV?

TIA
