Hi Guys,

Need some advice about this device http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/NEOX5.html

Anyone tried this?

My Original plan is to build a HTPC that can play 1080p movies and run with XBMC but sadly out of budget ako ngayon kaya baka hindi ko matuloy yung HTPC build ko.

Now, Nakakita ako nitong "MiniX NEO X5" android player na can play 1080p movies that can also run on XBMC according to my research but no actual proof. Is sells around 4k locally.

Do you guys think this is good enough for me? Can this device read my WD Element 1TB?

I got if from dynaquest. See ifs in TPC.

Ok here is my quick review . . .

Pros:
- very affordable
- good support from minix, check their forums
- it can play my 1080p rip collection using mx player
- xbmc xaf version is working great
- android os
- android games
- low energy consumption, below 5 watts when playing hd movies, standby 1watt

Cons:
- still on development stage, so expect some bugs
- boot time take about 30-40 seconds
- there are freezing rebooting issue but can be solve, check their forums
- stock remote is useless for me, working great if you have airmouse

All in all, this is all I need. I am glad I choose this over HTPC which too expensive and too much consumption

Can it play 3D?

It can play 3d but there is no option on the minix itself. In my pana 42st30 I have to click the 3d button so it will convert to 3d.

Ok Guys, Medyo busy ako kaya hindi ko ren masyado na tetest mabuti ... pero so far ang major problems na na eexperience ko ay yung crashing/freezing/rebooting ... minsan nakakabadtrip nanood ka ng movies tapos biglang mag cclose ... siguro ngyayari sya 1-2x a day in 4hrs of use. So medyo disappointed ako. Meron din shuttering sa 1080p movies ko.

Sa mga na research ko naman hindi talaga stable ang mga android media players. One good thing sa Minix Neo X5 is yung support nila... Aware sila na may mga ganitong issues and they are trying to fix it. As I said above under development pa tong device na to. Yung OS nya hindi pa ganun ka stable.

So if you want to buy it, I will suggest wait for a couple of months pa. Baka maayos nila or may lumabas pang mas ok na android media players.

Question before I will purchase a miniX Neo X5:

Is there a cellphone app para pwedeng gawing remote control yung phone natin instead of the free remote control? Baka mawala o masira yung remote control....

minix has written an app (not present in play store) to control the unit.  you can download it from their website.  it's not perfect but functional. not available for ios.

minix neo x7 just release..  any feedbacks?

it's not perfect but works.  it boots slow pero once you're in ok na. support is good. feedback of next firmware release is also based from the inputs of the community/forum.
