Yes, yes and yes.

But mind the following:

You dont have large windows (without curtains), very brightly lit room, or open doors facing your Plasma which may be greatly affect viewing because of the glare.

You dont use it as computer monitor (or static images like in games) as it is susceptible to screen burn-in.

Uses a BIT more electricity, but it can also save especially if your brightness level is set to low, but if you set it to Dynamic, expect significant increase in your electricity bill if you are viewing more than 8 hours per day

Other than those, PLASMA is still okay to buy.

Plasmas might disappear from the greater commercial market.

I have a feeling that in a few years, plasma panels will only be available from specialty shops with very high prices. :(

So better get a good one now while you still can.

True. With the advent of LEDs which companies are pushing hard (almost close to shoving into consumers mouths) at consumers, Plasmas will only have a niche market. Only a few people will have plasmas. Well...fewer than the already-few owners. haha

Let's admit it, there are more non-videophiles who just want a normal TV with decent PQ and will look good in their bedrooms or living rooms than actual videophiles. Plasma tvs have received bad press which may or may not have been warranted, but nevertheless stuck to consumer's minds.

High power consumption, burn-in, lack of brightness, etc. - these are the usual cons which almost-always creep up at the back of my mind when I consider plasma tvs. Of course, a lot of people here will defend the plasma and will debunk these negative press. Most will even say that the pros outweigh the cons. That may be so, but it's hard to change the perception (or is it misconception?) of people about Plasma tvs.

I do hope to see direct comparisons between an LED and a Plasma tv in their right environment kasi most of the time sa mga AV shops, nakikita ko talo talaga yung Plasma sa LED and they say dahil hindi magandang environment yung AV shops for Plasma tvs.

pumunta ako kanina sa local applicance center dito sa area ko...

Samsung PS-43E450... 43inch HD ready (not full HD)...

Im a plasma screen(E550 and E8000) lover but recently i observed how LCD/LED panels really improved nowadays so with that case i hopefully this year my next upgrade would be the sammy's 55F8000 or LG's 55LA8600 those two variants has advanced local dimming and that makes movies looked great on these two LED panels. Yung sammy's F8500 na plasma is also a great TV but since it's a plasma technology it will generate much heat and with that it will pump up the ambiance temp. in your room. Now in order to counteract or normalize your room temp. you will have to increase the coldness of your aircon unit and let alone your increase consumption on electricity hehehe as long you have that inky blackness of your F8500 plasma. lol.....

If you really like watching movies, if this is your hobby, you are meticulous enough about true black-ness, contrast ratio, etc., if you consider yourself a "video-phile", or to sum it up your foremost concern is PQ when watching movies and do not consider anything else, then the answer is "yes, it is very much okay to buy Plasma TV".

Some people say Plasma is retiring or will become scarce or even disappear soon. Well, there were some also who said vinyl was dying, because they were cumbersome to use, very difficult to maintain, turntables were things of the past, tube amplifiers were hot and consumes way to much electricity, etc., etc., etc. I bet those who made those comments and predictions before are scratching their heads now.

As a hobbyist I would say, buy whatever you think looks good and sounds good to you. If you feel Plasma is better, then go get one. Don't be swayed into buying what is often available in the malls (oftentimes LED and LCD only) and dissuaded from acquiring something because some said those objects will not be popular anymore in 3 to 5 years time.

That is it for me.

Who said that?

Im using Pana 42" Plasma and there is no 'pangit' or any way about it.

In fact magkatabi yung 42 ng Pana and 43 ng Samsung sa isang AV shop sa Shangrila; to the naked eye, Panasonic renders video in better refresh rates and more accurate color.

Ok na po ba yung 42XT50?  Kasi sa XT50, 3d at smart tv na.  Sa 43e490, 3d lang.  Kaya lang mas mura yung Samsung.  But if mas ok yung performance ng panasonic, ke panasonic ako.

smart nga tv mo pero naka 999php ka lang sa internet mo, eh useless lol..dapat naka fibr connection to full use of that smart feature of your tv. pero sir if i were u sir, go for LED nalang no problem just plug it-in and watch your favorite movies or your favorite cable programs. No worries about issues such as image retention, burn out images, the ambient lighting of your room and monthly electricity consumption.

100% agree with this as well. Follow up lang, if your opting for a plasma na large size (42 inches and above) dont sell yourself short. go for something Full HD na not HD ready lang. you would really see the difference when you watch full 1080p movies on larger screens. :)

Plasma owner here sir, hands down picture quality and black level walang tatalo sa plasma. Pag cable tv viewing lang kahit hd ready pwede na pero pag movies go with full hd. I would recommend Neo panel plasma ng Panasonic, pag dark scenes walang tatalo jan.
