At this stage of his career, LBJ won't be doing the slam dunk contest anymore.  If ever he wanted to do it, early years niya pa where fans, media, etc are still forgiving of him failing.  But not now..... Come to think of it....parang si Mayweather.  Takot matalo or magfail.   ;D

If so then his NBA career wont be complete w/o a Slam Dunk Throphy.
He has 2 NBA rings, Finals MVP, Season MVP, I not sure if he ever won an All Star MVP yet but the Slam Dunk Champion is easy for him to achieve.
No sense that he's afraid to compete and win it against Slam Dunk Champion Blake Griffin to prove he's at par with the Great MJ.

He feels good already even w/o the Slam Dunk title.  I vaguely recall him essentially saying that.  What he wants is the DPOY.

Well to be considered as the Greatest of Them All, he must face and overcome all challenges.

Lebron (and his handlers) frown upon joining the Slam-Dunk contest ....... because he will be hardpressed to win, since he is NOT a stylish dunker.

Stylish dunkers, moreso those with decent power, make up a good majority of Slam-Dunk winners.

Lebron is a straight-up power dunker ....... make no mistake, power dunkers can jump out of the building and make impressive dunks - but its far different re: in-game dunks compared to dunk contests.

To us fans, the media and even his peers....that's the expectation we set.  For Lebron, that might not be his.  But Lebron won't be forced to compete and let pressure dictate what he wants and doesn't want to do.  Heck I still think he hasn't surpassed Larry Legend as the greatest forward ever.

Looking forward to All-Star Weekend next week:

Rising Stars Challenge

Team Webber: Davis, MCW, Hardaway, Burke, Sullinger, Oladipo, Mason Plumlee, Adams, Olynyk
Team Hill: Lillard, Beal, Drummond, Barnes, TJones, Antetokounmpo, Valanciunas, Waiters, Miles Plumlee (for Antic)

* Team Hill ako dito, more balance

Shooting Stars

* The Hardaways v. The Currys.

Skills Challenge

* Solid ang West with Lillard, Dragic. Puro error 'yan sa East with Oladipo and MCW :)

Three-Point Shootout

* Should be a good one. Either Love or Curry.

Slam Dunk Contest

* No bigs this time. Terrence Ross v. Paul George 'to.

Anthony Davis in for Kobe for the West All Star.  I thought it should have been Dragic.  While both are equally deserving, the Suns have the better record.

Kulang pa si Blake Griffin.  I think dapat at least 10rpg para 20-10 average for him to be an MVP candidate.  Love is still the better player.

Phoenix has a lethal backcourt in Dragic and Green.
They must build the team around them as they're fun to watch.
Dragic is definitely a tougher version of Nash and he has been continuing Nash's legacy with the high octane game the Suns are known for.
I don't know if the Pau Gasol trade would materialize but they must look for players like former Suns Amare Stoudamire and Shawn Marion.
Josh Smith could have been a perfect fit for the Suns.

I never know he can dribble that well but I read reports that he was playing point guard when he was still short.

9.8 rpg ang average ni Blake for the year. Malapit-lapit na sa 20-10 criteria. He seems to be averaging a lot less rebounds during the stretch  w/out CP3.

18 games without CP3
- 8.17 rpg
last 10 games w CP3 - 11.2 rpg

It probably has to do being the focal point of the offense during that stretch and being paired up with the top rebounder in the league (Deandre - 14 rpg/15 rpg w/out CP3).

Personally I prefer Blake over Love right now. I've grown a bit skeptical of Love because of his track record of playing in a losing team, poor interior defense and lack of durability.

Love has a tendency of boxing out instead of contesting shots:

He's 2nd in the league in rebounding but is the league worst (58% OPP FG%/min 6 attempts) at defending the paint.
