putting a number of years on Sterling's ban for racism is akin to putting an expiration date on tolerance (or lack thereof) of bigotry.

sterling is indeed a racist.. no excuse for that... he deserves all the flak.

pero i see another angle... parang it was setup in a way para mapenalize nga si sterling and sell his team... to a very interested buyer...

I am very confused about this Sterling issue.
From what I know, the basis of the actions against Mr. Sterling is a Recorded private conversation.
I understand that without permission from the party being recorded and without a court order, the recording is illegal. If it is illegal, how can it be used for "legal sanctions"?

Did I miss something?
I am afraid the courts will just rule against any action taken by the NBA and there will be a deadlock resulting to next season being cancelled.

Personally, it is scary thought that you can no longer confide to a someone close to you that you do not want your sister to marry a black person without being labelled a Bigot and racist.

I believe the league ruled according to its bylaws and constitution so it was not brought up to the courts. However, that is always an option for Donald Sterling--which is something that is expected by the league. The evidence, though not admissible
in court since it was without his knowledge can still be used by the league since that law does not apply to them anyway. But since Donald Sterling admitted that he was the one on tape the league ruled on it.

I could be totally wrong but that's how I understand it based on all the discussions that I was able to listen to in NBC/ABC.

According to Commish Silver, Donald Sterling admitted he was the one in the recording. The issue about how the recording was attained became moot.

I've always liked this Memphis Grizzlies team. I look at them as a never say die and relentless "blue collar" NBA team. I hope this time they move on to the next round. Sorry OKC ...
