Thanks JoeyGS!
I'm sorry if this is going to be a long answer, but to give you the short version: acoustic treatments are a must if you want to vastly improve the sound quality within your room.
I started this "home theater" hobby when I was in college. I was a visual fidelity freak, always tweaking the settings of whatever I had and was devouring online threads, settings of review sites, etc. Then the audio bug bit me.
As with regards to this room (I'll spare you with my previous audio fail room), it was an acoustical nightmare from the get-go. Due to the intended purpose of the said room, (multimedia, and the center of the second floor which should be aesthetically pleasing from the outside) I had to deal with two tall glass windows, one big-ass sliding glass window, and two large sliding doors.
I started with the "treatments" when the house was being built. I placed four large 3" acoustic panels with Rockwool inside on the sides, hanged, as seen in the pictures, and four panels that I hoped to act as bass traps. I also had an extra panel that I intended to use as cloud on my front wall, but had problems with installing since the weight would more likely destroy my ceiling.
Before calling up Erwin (discovered through Sulit), I had acoustical issues. With my set-up, the bass crawl around the room was horrible. I was actually surprised, given that my subwoofer is not high-end. It seems that my make-shift bass traps were not doing its job.
To be continued.
